Bit harsh to blame anybody entirely for the goal, but I certainly think the two most culpable were Agger and Arbeloa.

Agger showed his inexperience and came off second best, Arbeloa just didn't want it enough and was too casual

Does this need a thread of its own?

The guy made a mistake just like lots of others that happen last night. Xabi's passing etc......

Thankfully we only shipped 1 goal yesterday. The way we were playing it could have easily been 3 or 4.
Yep. In the circumstances im happy that we go to anfield only 1 down. I never thought we'd win last night, but i think we'll absolutely stuff them at home, i really do.

Bellamy should have stopped Carvalho coming out.If you watch the replay he just stands up watching him.I still have a feeling we will score first at Anfield.Surely it is set up for God as a late sub!Zenden and Paletta off the squad and Fowler and Finnan in
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Pipe dream, mate. As much as I would like that to happen. If Rafa did not include God in the last 8 or so squads, what makes you think he would in a crucial make or burst CL semi-final?

Isn't it just bloody TYPICAL that Arbeloa's first wanky performance comes in a game of such magnitude?

All day I've had people saying "that Carlos Kickaball at right back's proper **** ain't he?".

They obviously all missed the Barca games. :whatever:

If Agger had have fouled Drogba would he have no been deemed as the last man and gotten a possible red card? I can't remember whereabout Carra was when Drogba first got the ball

To be fair to Arbeloa where was JC cos Agger "had" Drogba and Carra was missing.

He should've either helped out Agger, or dropped back to help out Arbeloa.

Not much he could've done though.

i thought carra's positioning was extremely poor as well, when you consider his experience and quality it's pretty disappointing. he should have dropped a little deeper into the space to cut out the obvious cross that was coming, agger had drogba contained out wide

                    oh well onwards and upwards

I was amazed Carra didn't try and cut out the cross. Normally he streches off his feet to get his body in the way. As the cross was being pulled back in front of Carra, there was no danger him diverting the ball into his own net. Agger should have got tackle in earlier, but I also think Jamie should have done a bit more to try and cut out the cross.

Yep I was a bit puzzled as to why Carra didn't stick out a boot.

He panicked and lunged at it IMHO. If he'd shown slightly more composure I think that he could have got to the ball.

Most of the team was at fault for their goal though and not any single player. We had 4 or 5 chances to make a challenge before the ball even got to Joe Cole. If you make mistakes like that at this level you get punished. It's a cliche but it's true.

                            Hell yeah.

Agger should have hacked the c*nt down about 10 yards outside the box!

There's no doubt that Agger could have done better in dealing with the Diver but my question is where the hell was Riise? The ball was played into the LB area and there was no LB to be seen. If a fullback drifts forward he should instruct someone to fall back and cover him surely.
