at the time, we were on a high and it seemed we were definitely on our uppers. Rafa's Valencia tore us to shreds and our confidence left right there and then.
I remember thinking, who is this dodgy looking geezer in a leather jacket? His team was so disciplined, quick, strong and determined. They interchanged positions effortlessly and looked like they had several more gears to go up had we came back at them. We didnt. Ged looked foolish. To me it was the beginning of the end for him.LFC - the footballing Phoenix. Watch us rise.

2003/2004Originally posted by Rashid View PostThe reason Rafa's Valencia battered us is because they were a rich man's Liverpool at the time. Where Houlllier didn't have a clue, Rafa did. Where Liverpool liked a scrap, Valencia were better at it, where Liverpool liked to hoof it, Valencia liked to keep the ball and press high up the pitch. Rafa did his homework and Liverpool were easy prey.
The only worrying thing about Rafa is that none of his teams have scored many goals over a season.
Valencia won the League scoring 71 goals in 38 matches conceding 27. They finished 5 pts clear of Barca in second. They also won UEFA Cup scoring 20 goals in 13 matches conceding 5
That's a lot of Goals
