There are some right idiots on this thread.

The reason people don't want Simao because, quite simply, he isn't flash like Quaresma, who seems to be the flavour of the month for the clique.

He's an effective player, can play either side, he's a hard worker, a leader, he's durable, his goalscoring record for a winger is excellent and he's a brilliant set piece specialist. We're being ripped off at £10m.

But of course because he doesn't score the odd crackerjack and do hollywood/highlight reel flicks for simple minded journo's to fawn over he's rubbish, of course he is.

I think some people have been seduced by that showpony arse in Salford, this season, and hence have been fawning over players of a similar ilk - Quaresma and ribery spring to mind. The spawny ****'s had a purple patch, but for me he's nowhere near as good or as effective as a Kaka or a Messi. Dunphy's right about him, he's flash with no character or resiliance. Great against mediocre sides, goes missing when it counts. And that just won't do for LFC.

Is he better than what we've got? Yes.

So should we sign him? Yes.

Based on that, yes agreed, however, would he walk into any/all of the other teams in the Top4?? That's the level of the bar now, and we need to raise it actually to overtake them. We need to have a whole team that the others would like to take any player we have, sometimes the sum of the whole is better of course, but we are nowhere near challenging for the title with our sum yet.

I don't want him because I don't think he is good enough. Watch him in the big games and you will discover that he goes missing. I have watched Benfica many times this season. He goes missing to often IMO. He has scored 10 goals this season but he also takes more or less all the dangerous free kicks.

Alves is a much more complete player.
