I don´t think it is right to punish the club, but the player should really be made to pay.
You have to be kidding. I've only seen the Michael Ball foul and clearly it was wrong and he should be punished but did you notice he did no long-term damage to Ronaldo?
Violent conduct - 3 or 4 games would be enough. Anything more would be a ludicrous overreaction..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I am totally serous. He was not to thank for the fact that Ronaldo was not injured. This is not football, this is violence. And should be treated as such.Originally posted by Neil Young View Post

Of course and we agree he should be punished. However, how much harm he intended and how much he actually caused are both relevant.Originally posted by einar View PostI am totally serous. Nine months?

What would you have done for the Ben Thatcher assault on Mendes? Given him 10 years? Cut off one of his limbs?Originally posted by einar View PostJust saw that and the foul on Ronaldo. I would like to see those who do this kind of thing get like a 9 month ban.

Despite being a blue****e, Ball should be given a medal for doing that ponce.I hate Polanski

Agreed he's a ponce , but come on; he should be hung out to dry for that kind of behaviour, as should brown or anyone who is violent on the pitch in that way.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostWhat would you have done for the Ben Thatcher assault on Mendes? Despite being a blue****e, Ball should be given a medal for doing that ponce. No matter how far back you seem, when you're blessed with class, anything is possible. Chris Bascombe Sep 21 2006
