I only meant that it was likely to get peoples backs up. I didn't mean to imply that you cared any less about the issue than anyone else, apologies if that wasn't clear.

Mate, no one is questioning your right to mention that rag or to be angry about what happened but the lad who said 'there's no smoke without fire' wasn't quoting it and his post had nothing to do with hillsborough at all or that paper. Seperate issues completely.

I agree about casual, lazy cliches. We don't know Barton and hounding him because of tabloid gossip is childish and ill informed. I don't read tabloids (I'm far too much of a superior ******* ) but I do know that he stubbed a cigar out in someones eye, just badly assaulted someone with a score of witness', has been fined and reprimanded on several previous occasions by his club and he keeps making his mouth go in the press about him manager and team mates. These points aren't conjecture, he is disruptive.

Anyhow. We won't buy him so me and you will be happy

if barton didn't do the lad i'd like to know what happened to that fellah's face as he wasn't in the best of ways.

it's hell of a set of steps he fell down if it wasn't joey

and he's not good enough for us. more than good enough for the bitters though

For me, the crux of the matter is this- we do not need another central midfielder.
Barton is not a bad player, but in my view he’s not good enough to dislodge SG, XA, JM or Momo. I really hope we sign a MAXIMUM of 3 quality players this summer, as any more will cause too much disruption to our squad – central midfield looks very, very rosy for LFC at the moment and there is absolutely no necessity to recruit another CM – especially one who is well-established at his present club and is at an age where a stint on the bench is of no use to him.

None of us know "the truth" about any of those instances, particularly not the latest one. Barton, like everybody else in this democracy, is innocent until proven guilty.

Having said that, I also don't believe he's right for LFC but because of his ability on the pitch not his reputation off the pitch.

I did hear him personally say "Do you KNOW WHO THE **** I AM!" to a load of people when he was in my local.

And I did hear him say "I said **** off to the pool, ha ha!"

My one time boss and now mate personally knew Joey via his brother - Chris Shuker (now at tranmere) and at the time Chris was playing for Man City. His family and I were in the pub having a chat about the beloved LFC and he was telling me and his brothers about Barton and his antics at Man City.

I also got the same type of information about Joey from a few other people - my mate knows him and his family from Huyton and from another mate of mine who is a family relative of Fowler.

Might be a good player but no way do I want him at LFC, he causes far to much **** as he thinks he is "a someone".

Are you saying that you spoke to someone who was there. if so what did they say happened?

Considering my previous reply that's probably not the best phrase to use, fella...

And if you did bother reading what I said, I categorically stated (several times) that I do not want Joey Barton at LFC but only because of his 'on-field' inabilities, not his alleged 'off-field' activities...

If it's not Fowler who is Barton not going to be signed to replace?
                            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

We don't have the NFL equivalent of the water carrier do we, maybe we could start with there then?

I also heard that Willie McKay (I think thats his name but Joeys agent anyway) had been forced to apologise for his comments in defence of Barton. I suspect that this time there is good reason to cast doubt on Bartons supposedly now more mature character.
After signing Bellamy and Pennant it seems a bit rich for us to play the dodgy character card.

The real issue is whether he's good enough for LFC?

And that's a no for me.
