    ps

Some quality posts from you in this thread and I have to say I agree with them all.
glad someone does mate, also just in case anyone was in any doubt:

From the club charter for this year:

PRIORITY SELLING ARRANGEMENTS (HOME DOMESTIC CUP & HOME UEFA COMPETITION MATCHES)

Tickets for these fixtures are now sold on a priority basis. In the first instance for each home game of the respective competition we will offer tickets to all Season Ticket Holders, then to all supporters with a Fan Card and the subject to availability a General Sale. For subsequent home games in each competition we will initially offer tickets to those who have attended the previous match or matches. All ticket purchases must be stored on the Fan Card in order to qualify.

You know what'll happen next season though don't you. All st holders will tick to box for cup matches so that they put themselves ahead of anyone else in the queue leaving less tickets for us mere mortals who aren't fortunate enough to have a season ticket.

it's ridiculous really, i mean lets assume for a minute that when this new ground gets sorted they make say 40k for season ticket holders, so then how do you please 40,000 fans who will all be going to the home games and no doubt signing up for this auto cup ****, when only 17,000 tickets are available. Will you have tossers writing into the echo saying i've had my season ticket for 20 years so i;m more entitled than this fella who's only had his for 9 months, grow up ffs.

All thats happening at the moment is the typical conspiracy theorys going on because ppl are fecked off at only getting 17k tickets from uefa and they know they can do **** all about it with uefa so lets have a pop at parry because he's here and we can do that, based on the evidence of **** all at the moment.

for the record, i've never stated that i believed season ticket holders should have priority over "mere mortals."

if you have 19 league games on your fan card then you equal every season ticket holder in my view and should have equality with season ticket holders.

but if someone has been to 6 CL's and ZERO league games why should they be treated the same.

and moreover, how come hardly any of us got a ticket out of the ballot?

many of us feel the numbers don't add up and so want the club to make the figures known. i can't see any reason why they wouldn't tell us this information. or do they have something to hide?

it seems a reasonable demand for transparency to me. if that makes me one of the whinging ***** then so be it. but i'm moer deserving to be in athens than some corporate prick, and more deserving than someone who, while being a fan has the same CL games as me but doesn't go week in week out like I do.

and if usher's guesstimate is right that its 1 in 7, I want to know why only 4,000 odd tickets went into the ballot, and I want to know where the rest went.

its not a massive thing to ask.

agree. The point people who are syaing it's a fair system here are missing is that people who fork out lots of money either in the form of a season ticket or via PTS to go to every league game should surely get priority over someone who has been to 6 games the whole season (maybe even their whole lives!) and get a ticket to the final.

It would not have been difficult for the club to check people's fan card and said 6 champs league games and 5 or so other games (e.g. FA cup or Carling cup) get tickets.

Then the rest into a ballot.

The 5000 fancards numbered 10000001 to 10005000 were split as follows:

445 fancards pre-qualified with 7 or more credits
635 fancards were successful in the ballot
2097 fancards were unsuccessful in the ballot

and therefore 1823 fancards did not qualify either for a ticket or the ballot.

                      Total number in the ballot = 2097 + 635 = 2732
635 successful, therefore 635/2732 = 0.232 (3sf), or 23.2% chance of success. A fair way under the 1 in 3 chance most people expected.

Slightly more interesting results are achieved if we take the number of pre-qualified fancards and the successful ones in the ballot, and extrapolate.

Rick Parry said there were approximately 4000 pre-qualifying fancards, therefore:

                      635 * (4000 / 445) = 5707 (0dp) tickets in the ballot

                      and

2732 * (4000 / 445) = 24557 (0dp) fancards qualified for the ballot, close to the suggested 27,000 and adding weight to the figure calculated above.

                      So, to summarise:

                      17,000 allocation
                      4,000 to pre-qualifying fancards
                      5,700-ish available in the ballot
                      7,300 to 'other sources'

                          RAWK

They've essentially 'proved' that Parry has looked after his corporate friends before the fans.

                          It's a disgrace.

You think Rick Parry is good for the club?

Besides getting us Rafa - what else has he done in his role as CEO?

He had to 'settle' for them after the ones he wanted DIC dropped out because HE and the board were taking an age to decide what to do. He ended up going for the "Rich Americans" because they paid £8M more to his mate David Moores.

Parry also had a contract inserted saying he would need 2 years notice to leave, and he gets a £500K bonus for finding the investment. Literally saying you can't sack, and now pay up. He is a leech - why can't people see that?
