MILITO BEGS FOR CHANCE WITH RAFA
                By Simon Mullock 13/05/2007

ARGENTINE defender Gabriel Milito has pleaded with Real Zaragoza to let him join Liverpool.

The Reds have made two previous unsuccessful attempts to take Milito to Anfield, with Zaragoza rejecting both bids.

But Rafa Benitez is believed to be ready to mount another bid - and after missing out on a dream move to Real Madrid four years ago when he failed a medical, Milito wants the chance to play on the big stage.

He said: "This is my opportunity to join a big club in Europe and I don't want to miss it.

"Liverpool have a Spanish coach. That is important for me and I want to be allowed to leave."

Benitez, meanwhile, may be able to use Djibril Cisse as a makeweight to finally land Simao Sabrosa from Benfica.

The Portuguese side have registered an interest in Cisse, now on loan at Marseille. The French club are unlikely to move for a permanent deal.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Crude attacking strategy? hmm let me, sounds like Ged's team circa 2004!

Bellamy's good enough to score 10 league goals a season, and you flat out denied it was possible, that's why it went in the siggy. Same as with us and finishing 3rd. Is Bellamy better for us that Cisse - I still say yes. Cisse IS a better goalscorer, I've never questioned that, but he disrupted our general play immensely and it wasn't worth the trade-off for a couple of league goals.

Neither him nor Bellamy are good enough for us, we need players who can combine the ability to participate in attacking moves that require a certain level of tactical awareness and intelligence with the ability to score goals. It's not an either/or, it has to be both. It's tough to find quality strikers, but in the interim I think Bellamy for £6m was a decent signing. That said it was only ever in the interim, and he should and will be shipped out, not just for footballing reasons IMO.

And we will get our money back with some addition too.
