    I think that Mascher and Gerrrard will do a better job at CM and they will certainly keep the balance better. Mascher/Alonso against Cheski away pretty much says it all. Disaster! Gerrard like a headless chicken all over the pitch. Only outlead through Zenden. I don't think Rafa will make the same mistake twice. We need a RM who stays wide in this game. If he wanted to field Alonso it would be at the expense of Pennant. That would leave too much ball/initiative to Milan. It would allow them to dictate the pace. If we want to take this game to them Pennant should be on the pitch.

    I think Rafa will recognize that there will be a lot of space in the wide areas. Something a player like Pennant will benefit from.

    Anyway, we will know soon enough

      gerrard can't be constrained to play the cm part against milan, if he pushes forward and leaves space for kaka and their midfield to attack were ****ed...

            I think that Kuyt will be a big part of the midfield in the first 45 mins...

                A game lost by Fergie before they even got on the pitch. He pretty much played a 4-3-3 or at least a 4 3-2-1. I think that our 4-5-1 will be much more compact. It's a question of Kuyt or Alonso on the midfield really. If Alonso is on either Crouch or Pennant won't be. If Crouch isn't on then we really don't need Pennant that much imo. If we go for Pennant and his crosses then Crouch should be in the box imo.

                Kuyt on the midfield as a hanging striker will give us a more direct approach. Mascher/Alonso/Gerrard is too defensive imho.

                  i really would love to see sissoko alonso gerrard. see sissoko kill them in the first half, but it's unlikely to happen

                            Yes - he can run. I dislike him with a passion. Not my kind of player at all!

                              But it wasn't a 4-5-1 Tomas. It was a 4-4-2 where Gerrard and Alonso got overrun. Hamann brought balance and the 3-5-2 was key in taking the game to them.

                              I fear that Mascher/Alonso/Gerrard would give them way too much control over the game.

                              To keep possession we need Zenden/Kewell (Would love if Kewell could play 90 mins but I seriously doubt it) and Pennant. We need width. I think that Kuyt is the key at CM in the first 45 mins.

                                i love mascherano with passion and have done so for a a few years. i represent argentina on this forum red chilli can confirm that , but i still love sissoko as well
