Not enough quality in wide positions and up front.

I'm not going to discuss names to fill those positions that's Rafa's job.

        Unlucky to lose tonight. Gutted.

Still this is the beginning of a Golden Era, we're back at the top table consistently.

Now about that ****in league title.....

I thought we were the better side tonight, But I don't think " Rafa did no wrong tonight, (team selection, tactics and substitutions were all spot on)"

He DID get the team wrong imho:

Pennant and Bolo starting (I would have started SG on the right, Kewell on the left, Kuyt and Crouch up front).

Tactics were right in general keep it tight for 1st half, but what he did get wrong was he waited too long to bring Crouch on.

Pennant tried hard and got into decent positions, but his final ball was continually awful. I don't like Bellers but even I'd have brought him on to test Milan's ageing legs.

The one thing I hope for is that Rafa learns to be braver than this. But he WILL have more quality next year to choose from.

            Roll on next season.

            Hi mate.

IMO, Kewell wouldn't have been fit enough to play the 90 mins, and I feel Gerrard was placed best where he was.

He looked dangerous throughout, and if it wasn't for some "Uncharateristic Gerrard Finishing" on a couple of occasions, it could have been oh so different.

He had a couple of decent half chances, that on another day, could have been in the back of the net.

Gerrard is an amazing player, that IMO, is best used as a central midfielder, with a license to roam,.

Spot on. Gerrard was just fine where he was. Playing him there allowed us to press high up the pitch and put Milan under alot of pressure. It almost worked a treat at 1-0 aswell. Had Stevie scored when he capatilised on that Milan mistake at the back the match would have swung back in our favour IMHO.

                      What's with all the nagativity?!

We totally out-played a very good Milan side (one which made Manchester United look like complete chumps, only a couple of weeks back), for 44 minutes, only to go in a (very lucky) goal down at half time.

We had a rough 10 minutes at the start of the 2nd half, but after that, played some good football, but as the game went on, we got more desperate, and HAD to go more attacking, thus opening up space for Milan to attack us.

This was always a very likely outcome, but they were changes that needed to be made, were we to have any chance of getting back into the game.

Rafa did no wrong tonight, (team selection, tactics and substitutions were all spot on), IMO, and neither did the team.

The only thing we were lacking, was REAL quality up front, and I'm sure we'll address this issue come the summer.

I'm proud of Liverpool tonight, and I feel we were hard done to, but hey... that's football!

                      We'll be back!

                      Walk On.

Strangely enough I don't feel too bad. I think the reason is I saw this really as more of a bonus in our step to domination. This would have been fantastic to have won but if we are being honest we had our share of luck against them last time. It was far more important to win that one than this one. Its hard but remember, as I heard JC and SG say tonight, there's no doubt we will be in more of these!! The next few years are going to be glorious I can feel it!

defeat makes you stronger the pain of defeat will drive the players to new heights

I am old enough and fortunate to have seen all our euro finals, (and all our FA cup victories come to that) and while this one might hurt a little it does not hurt anywhere near as much as it would have done 2 years ago when we had not been in a European Cup Final for 20 years ( I mean THE European Cup Final)

You just know that with this team and management that there will be many more glory days and nights in the years to come

The pain of defeat will hurt for a short while...............my 13 year old son is in tears........ but it will pass

but when we challenge for the prem next season the pain of tonight will be forgotten

a few of my latest posts could have been deemed to have been negative but i feel that its the truth, i really do, thing is im proud of the team, rafa and i really believe we will be there again soon, thing is im fed up with over protective fans saying that zenden, pennant etc are playing well....granted pennant has improved but imo he is a million miles away from being the necessary standard,,,and dont get me started on zenden....
im not being negative, realistic id like to think.
I know rafa will address these issues though and so am not too despondant this evening.
                              Roll on next season!!
