Didn't say he was outstanding just that he has the potential to become it.

Fine seeing that you are so against the idea of Puerta, who would you prefer?
I'm not against Puerta, I also think he's a very good player / prospect and I wouldn't mind seeing him come in as a squad player (although we seem to have enough of those already).

I'd like to see someone with individual talent coming in - someone who's game is based around running at defenders, making things happen and so forth. Puerta strikes me as being more of a solid "cog" in the team that has a lot of good qualities but still falls short of being able to provide that extra bit of spark or magic when we need it. Perhaps you've seen more of him than I have and I've got it wrong - feel free to correct me if this is the case.

As I said before (and have been saying for years now), we need some matchwinners to ease the pressure off Gerrard. We need someone who is going to scare the opposition before he sets foot on the field etc etc.

I'd rather we loaned Gonzales out to someone in the Prem for a season.
Imagine if he spent a year at Sunderland for example?
It would only do him - and us - good in the long term.

Realistically how much are we going to make this offseason.

        Bellers- £8mill
        Cisse- £7mill
        Gonzalez- £5mill
        Carson- £4mill
        Pongolle- £2.5mill

Thats the best part of £27million right there.

enough for one world class striker or a top class winger and a CB.

throw in the kitty from G&H and we could be spending BIG bucks this summer.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Yes, I can understand what your saying. I have seen a fair bit of him, but your right and I wouldn't label him a "matchwinner" but seriously, which kind of player is available on the market at present who can be considered a good consistent player and a matchwinner? Players like David Silvafor example are great but don't really provide width because they are not natural wingers more attacking mids chucked out wide and aren't consistent enough in general. Vicente who is a great player who is always injured. Simao would be a good option for being a "difference maker" sort of player but can fade out of games for sizable chunks etc etc. Just looking at whats on the market today is why I am suggesting him mainly.

Anyway, overall I just really really hope we don't make a stupid signing like Pedesen...

How many of those players will want their contracts paid up? Aside form maybe Carson and Pongo, they haven't asked to leave. So knock a good 10% off your 27M for agents, then pay about a year's salary each to the players.

That's the best part of half of your best part of £27M gone.

I hear ya and to be honest, I'm not overly convinced by any winger in the market right now either, but if I had a choice, I'd be much more inclined to take someone like Quaresma and Ribery as opposed to Puerta (for 1st choice). I do recognize however, the difference in price.

£5m is a great bit of business.

Ideally he would've went out on loan to another Premiership club to see if he could cut it. He was never going to get an extended run in the side.

Still it's impossible to turn down that kind of money for what is essentially a squad player.

One of the many major differences between Rafa, and the deluded French one, is his ability to admit a mistake on any signing he's made and ship them out, and for a good return. Had that been Ged he'd have kept Gonzalez for years then sold him for **** all.

These kinds of transactions gives me even more confidence that very soon we'll be the dominant force in the country.

I'm liking the fact that Rafa doesn't feel like he has to take a chance on him and see if he comes good next season, he was pretty pants, get rid get someone better in, no fannying about, make a tidy little profit everyones happy.

I´m a bit surprised he has been sold already. I guess the offer was good enough that Rafa decided he could get someone better.
