    Jamie Carragher - above criticism?

Was thinking - once the pain had eased bit - about the game and how you turn losses like that into wins.

its easy to say "we need a goal poacher" or " we need a world class striker" but we did actually score and with hindsight, we conceded 2 very soft goals both from errors by carragher: firstly a weak clearance straight to kaka, second a hopeless attempt at offside when he should have gone with the runner.

when you look through our team and look at positions where we might improve it, I'm sad to say that JC's is a spot where we might improve the team overall.

I love him for his effort and his red heart but Ive always known there are better defenders in this world - and when we have 2, and jamie is cover, well be where we want to be

id say you got your right on the first one but that was no foul by alonso and the second one is typical milan, if you dont close down the ball carrier (gerrard and kewell) they simply look for their forwards to get in behind. happened in istanbul, not so sure it would of happened had masherano still been on the pitch. carra seemed to be out of sorts though

yeah, he is untouchable, at the moment anyway, he is by far and away our most consistent performer so to criticize any "mistakes" would only serve to undermine his confidence, at this stage its best to remember just how good he is, if he consistently ****s up then we will have another conversation. But for now..lay off j.c

As you say, he's not above criticism and we've failed recently for being just that. I would welcome a better player if we can find one.

The offside trap we deploy works 9.5 times out of 10. Was clear from easrly on Inzaghi was looking sharp with his timed runs. Very unfair to criticse for that second goal.

I dont think its unfair - he was knackered and i think he made the decision to push up out of tiredness - a gamble if you like. It was never gonna work.
on this occasion, he needs to hold his hand up.

carragher was caught in no mand land cos gerrard and kewell never pressed kaka with the ball. milan live and die on that, it shows you the influence masher had on the game, just like didi in 05

it shows rafa got the startout tactics exactly right.

you cant legislate for a deflection off somebhody's back but you can try to stamp outh the error that led to it - and that was jc's. there was no way alonso could avoid running in to kaka and giving away the free kick.

the only thing id of done was crouch for pennant in the second half with gerrard playing right and after the second one went in, bellamy for finnan

Not sure about Bellamy mate because we were chasing the game then and Milan were starting to sit back and Bellers game is based on getting behind the back 4.

My only criticism the team when Crouchie plays is that we tend to abuse sending long balls to him and winning the second balls, therefore playing the percentages game but I bet that's a tactic Rafa likes because it brings variety.

Carra very rarely makes mistakes and he should have done a better job in the goals. But then so should others.

Carra has been very solid and deserves his place in the team and our hearts.
And I think we all know Rafa is looking for someone better or his replacement.
