    How annoyed is Rafa?

Rafa appeared to be having a go at Rick Parry in todays' papers.

I don't have a direct quote as I don't have the energy to copy it but he appeared to be expressing the opinion that there has been too much talk and not enough action when attempting to sign players.

    He sounds pissed off!

He was right to be pissed off at the lack of progress in the background.
Cant say I was thrilled to see him publicly saying this though, if anything Rafa has forced the new owners to declare publicly that they will back him to the hilt when really all the talking should be done behind the scenes. Rafa shouldnt be using the media to get what he wants, he is a big boy now, if he has a problem, he should go to the new owners and let them know what his problem is. It also worries fans to an extent, thinking is Rafa off or what. Will HIcks and Gilett have to expect more of this behavious in the future?.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

had a right go in the echo, he said something along the lines of, its no use talking to players in august because then they have become our 2nd and 3rd choices. ie get off your arse parrry, sort your hair and get the players i want yesterday. cited the mancs for how swiftly they spent 20 mill on hargreaves

Rafa is goin nowhere - he is putting his mark on things and taking the bull by the horns - if he kept himself to himself it would maintain the status quo which Parry would be delighted about. We havent won't the league in how many years now? This way of doing things in the club needs to be cleaned up - I see it as a breath of fresh air to see him kick some ass - he has the fans behind him

He's sounded like my missus on rag week!

Seriously though. He's still got the respect of most people here. If he had lost the final as Real Madrid manager he'd be job hunting by now.

I don't quite understand this over reaction.

The way I see it is that Rafa felt he had no choice but to pile on the pressure. He must be concerned at all the talk and lack of action.

Make no mistake these comments by Rafa were designed to ruffle a few feathers. My main concern is that if he doesn't get backed he'll be off by the middle of July.

It needs to be done. If we have the money then go get who we want

I couldn't blame him. As I understand it he stayed on the basis that he would be backed sufficiently by our new owners. His recent statements have me concerned that Rafa doesn't believe they will make good on their promises. I could be wrong but those comments yesterday were more than off the cuff remarks.

Unless there is sufficient movement soon in the transfer market I think it'll be interesting to see what happens.

It's time for the new owners to stop talking and start working...

I don't know if Rafa is hedging his bets with this rant, either he was blowing off steam, which is not like the ultra professional he is or he's trying to shake some people from their slumber with a reality check, personally i think he's tried to an extent to be diplomatic about our plight but is totally pissed off with the false dawns & to be honest,so am i, i think Parry is a bit of a charlatan but that's my opinion, some will disagree, fair enough but how long do we go on living on the backs of cup comps.Don't get me wrong,it's all part & parcel and i love the romance of it but i think Rafa has finally admitted what we all really feel & that we're a long way off being real contenders for the league.
I don't expect to win it next year even though i'd love to but we do need some overhaul in the attacking department, maybe a complete one,we can control large portions of games against top sides but possession is nothing without scoring.
Make or break time this summer methinks, time to walk the walk.

It's not hard to see what we need. Our failings as a team were highlighted clearly on Wednesday. The midfield and back four are fine it's our wide players and strikers that need improving. And it needs improving with quality, real quality.

We need at least 1 striker and 2 wingers who pose a serious goal threat. Had we had that on Wednesday I think we could possibly have beaten Milan quite comfortably.

It'll cost alot of money to buy the type of players we need and I must admit that in light of recent comments by Rafa I'm quite concerned we wont get the required funds.

I'm probably jumping the gun a bit but as I said before those comments weren't just off the cuff remarks. They were a warning.
