Maybe too much has been made of Rafa's "outburst". He was probably just trying to tell us the way things are or rather were. Has he not already been allowed to lavish £8M on an untried 20 yr old Brazilian and whose position we're already overloaded with similar players? This kind of deal would have been unthinkable a year ago. For heavens sake we had to get a loan to buy Kuyt.

Indeed. I think he is just signaling our intentions this summer and for next season. We are not messing about. We want to sign top talent and we want our business tied up quickly. We have the money to spend and if some players agents play funny buggers we will move quickly to our other main targets.

Also Parry has been great for this club, but if I had to pick out a major short coming is our ability to get players on board.

Untill Rafa came along, we always bought High sold low, that has been reversed since he has come along, most of the main players he has brought in we are selling or they are worth much much more now. But it is obvious we need a 20 plus a season striker ideally a 30 plus, we need another special match winner mid fielder and couple more world class players.

We have tons of depth in young talent, we need at least 4 1st team players that could walk into a ManWhoo or Chavski team, that is the bench mark

I read somewhere recently that it was Rafa working hard to a deal with Blackburn for Lucas Neill on transfer deadline day in August. Rick Parry was on a jolly or something. What Chief Executive worth his salt would leave the club in a situation like that?

He has his strengths thats for sure, but correct me if I am wrong he seems to be severely lacking in the getting players on board dept.

Seriously though. He's still got the respect of most people here. If he had lost the final as Real Madrid manager he'd be job hunting by now.

I don't quite understand this over reaction.
He's secure of his position at Anfield and wants to put pressure on those behind the scenes to start delivering. Shrewd man Rafa

              He sounds pissed off!

It's calculated. Rafa never does something for the sake of emotion. It's part of his strategy for giving the club a total re-tread.

Another thing. I wouldn't believe a word about what you read or hear about Parry being incompetant. He's a very able chief exec who negotiated and is responsible for the premier league.

Totally agree, dodgy hair, even dodgier ties, always late of the mark, gets constantly ripped (especially by his chums at Carlsberg) Parry needs t hit the bricks.
                      We come not to play.

Imagine if you're Rafa though - you have ambition - you know what you need to get the team to championship winning level. And with each passing summers you see the players you want either go elsewhere or remain at their clubs, so you have to go for your lower priced player. Knowing this means you are unlikely to be able to challenge. And all this 'coz the club are too slow off the mark - it probably makes him sick, knowing with better and faster support, he could improve the team with his 1st choice players, so that they can perform to his expected level in his tactical set up.

So this summer - now - is vital. If the club dont gear up and move quickly now, once again he'll have to watch his targets vanish, going to the likes of Chelsea, Scum, Madrid etc...after 3 summers of it, surely it will be the last straw, as he'll think how the hell can I take the club further if I cant get my 1st choice players in.

Plus he needs them now - not in August. Two months before the season starts. Time enough for them to bed in, get used to the weather, local life and of course, his tactics, whilst beginning the process of getting used to the team mates. So hence why I reckon he's come out and said all this now.

yup, this summer is so important to us, if we dont spend big on the right players then we are ****ed and will fight for the 3rd 4th place spot with Arsenal/.

Thats true aswell Revo. It will spark the new owners into action hopefully. So there is positive and negatives to take from what he has said.
But will clubs now be looking for top dollar from us now that he has forced them to publicly declare that they will back him to the hilt. ITs not very shrewd in my opinion. I still think Rafa could have done his talking behind closed doors though. But I do understand his frustration of not having another Chamions LEague winners medal to his name, not because of his coaching ability, but because of the lack of action in the background. He is a motivated manager that is for sure, I would say arguably the most ambitious manager in Europe at present. But please Rafa, no more frights for the supporters. Tell the new owners what you want behind closed doors, explain your situation, your expectations and your motivations and lets get on with things.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
