    Riise to leave?

AC Milan, Chelsea alerted as Liverpool ponder Riise sale
    tribalfooball.com - May 25, 2007

John Arne Riise is battling to save his Liverpool career.

The Norway international is set to be made available by Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez this summer, says the Daily Post.

Chelsea, Juventus and AC Milan are among clubs to have been linked with the left-sided wing-back in the last six months.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Why bother posting Tribal Football links?

I don't even open their stories in the first place.

Tribal quotes the media. It's more easy to go to tribal than to go to every paper it quotes.

I don't understand why people hate tribalfootball so much. First of all, most of it is taken from actual newspapers and if the original article was posted, you wouldn't get all pissy. Secondly, it's the summer. What the **** else is there to talk about?

But their quotes usually leave something to be desired.

"Riise has been talking about going to Spain on holidays with the family this summer" turns into...

"Reports are that Riise has publicly stated that he is off to Spain during the transfer window."

I don't trust anything they say until it's said by someone credible that isn't quoting Tribal.

I think he has had his worst season for us. Think he deserves another season tho.

sign a left back ffs and let riise play his strongest position. he is way up the pecking order for being kept around.

He should be kept as a squad player as his versatility is a handy option. He's not very good though, and we need a better left-back than him. I don't think there's a player in the squad who tries Rafa's patience as much as the Norwegian hoof-merchant.

he is not a left back he is an attacking midfielder (a very good one at that) but until sherwood forest has been cleared out and we stop asking players to fill the gaps its always gonna be square pegs and round holes.

I don't think he's a midfielder either. He's not cute enough, not skilful enough to be an 'attacking midfielder'. Doesn't he say himself that he's a left-back and not a midfielder?

If you ask me he's a wing back - neither a genuine full-back or a midfielder. He's not good enough defensively for a full-back IMO. He's crap defending in one-on-one situations and pulls out of tackles. He's not comfortable in possession and I think Rafa would prefer ball-playing full-backs - hence the purchase of Aurelio and the pursuit of Alves.

Insua seemed very tidy on the ball in his appearances so far but next season is surely too soon for him.

Because I've seen Benitez go ****ing crackers on the touchline many times after a Riise mistake or aimless punt. Notable in my mind is the Arsenal FA Cup game this season. Riise was shocking and Benitez was constantly bollocking him and pulling faces. He ended up taking him off.
