I'm sure I remember Allardyce once having a bit of a dig at Crouch by saying he had a striker (Kevin Davies) who performs a similar role to Crouch but does it much better, and should be in the England side.

    Gob****e. :whatever:

I don't believe that Rafa is interested in Owen. Our owners want to sign him but Rafa is the man who decides who we will sign.

If Rafa don't want him then that is fine with me. Rafa is a much better manager than me.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Now, I am probably in minority, but if we got a decent price 12 mill or so AND get a better striker in as replacement, I would sell him.

Too many deficiencies in his game, great bit-part player, but would Crouch be happy? And isn't that a lot of money to keep on the bench for an impact player?

We should only sell him if he's making room for a top, top striker. Bellamy is going and must be replaced by a top striker - if Crouch goes we'll have to buy two. Are two top strikers (Tevez & Eto'o? ) realistically within our reach?

              I can't see it.

Well that' the big issue isn't it. Which striker offers what Crouch offers?

i'd sooner have said striker signed first, for two reasons, firstly we don't get caught out if a deal falls through and secondly we aren't selling to buy which will probably mean we'll get more cash for a player because we aren't desperate to sell

                        It is.
However, I refuse to discuss football with you until you announce that Mascherano has been a great signing for us.

I think that little bit was derived from the fact that Rafa does not view his as first choice...

And for the people who want Owen over Crouch.. may I ask a question? Make that several. Do you think Owen will be content to sit on the bench if we get another world class striker in? Seriously! The boy has shown his loyalty is for his England position, he would feck right off again if he ain't guaranteed first choice. Plus how good is he now? Will he ever fully recover from his injuries? His pace, his form? Is that a risk you are willing to take? Two risks in fact! 1) that he would turn around and bugger right off again and 2) he simply is not going to be as good as he used to be.

Crouch is while not entirely unique as a striker (Toni Zigic?? and Klose etc), he does offer something different. Should be get the likes of Eto'o or Villa would we still need Owen? Big if I know. And certainly the likes of them may not settle. But is Owen worth losing Crouchie for? I say no. Not a chance in hell. Unless we get in Toni or Klose or Zigic
