Crouch - Rafa wants me to stay

Peter Crouch has revealed Rafa Benitez has assured him he has a future at Liverpool.

The beanpole striker had to battle with Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt for a starting berth at Anfield last term and is now having to contend with speculation about his future.

Benitez, armed with a sizeable transfer kitty, is set to revamp his squad this summer and both Crouch and Bellamy have been linked with the Anfield exit door.

Newcastle chief Sam Allardyce is reported to be ready to table a bid for Crouch, but the England international claims Benitez has told him he has a role to play on Merseyside.

"He's (Benitez) told me I'm part of his plans and that's good enough for me," Crouch told Sky Sports News.

"At a club like Liverpool there's going to be competition for places, especially as the manager likes to chop and change."

Rafa usually seems to be a man of his word with these things, so i think unless a silly offer comes in, our forward line will be Kuyt, Crouch, Voronin and a.n.other

IF we get a Tevez or Eto'o in that would still mean a considerable improvement upfront. I think Voronin is of similar calibre as Bellamy so if a top notch striker came in for Fowler we would be laughing IMO. Could then get in a couple of goalscoring wingers to go with the new striker.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Indeed. Talk of 2 new big name strikers is just silly, flagrantly Kuyt and Crouch will stay with

        Bellamy for xxxxx
        Fowler for Voronin

Reckon I'll merge this with the other Crouch thread in a sec and change the overall title to "Crouch - media talk" or something....

Crouch's comments epitomise the type of person he is. He loves playing for us and understands that he must fight for his place. He doesn't sulk and he doesn't come out in the press saying he has to play etc. And when he gets his chance he usually takes it. We simply must keep Crouch unless a silly bid comes in for him.

Compare his latest comments with that of Momo's....

It's not that Rafa doesn't rate Crouch but more the fact that he sees him as an option from the bench to change the game if needs be.

Tevez played a Big Role to keep West Ham in the EPL, but he did not do it alone. Players who prevented goals being scored are just as important and not to mention players assisting Tevez with his goals

Tevez created and scored a lot of goals when he played as a striker. He was the best player in the league the last two months and dominated in game after game.

I would say that he will only get better and better. Imagine Tevez in two or three years time. He is already one of the best players in the World.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

A agree about Klose, but the thing is this Amauri guy is 21, and has an attitude I really like and I think we need. He reminds me of Cisse, attitude wise that is.

Amauri is 26. He has only emerged as a good player since his move to Palermo really he seldom put on that kind of performance at Chievo etc so it gives him the impression of being younger.

****, you are right. Must have misread.

Dont think I want him anymore. He needs to improve and at 21 he was fine.
But since he is 26 he is simply not gonna improve.

Lets give Momo a break. Rafa has not spoken to him so he is simply asking for a meeting.
He wants to stay and wants to be sure he is in Rafas plans.

No to selling Crouch for anything less than £14m.
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

What swapping 1 average Prem league scorer for a proven one. Yeah, that's really bad business. We need goalscorers of the highest calibre and if it means we have to sacrifice Crouch to get 2 TRUE goalscorers I'd go for it.
