That's the one... saw him pulling his foot back, right in front of goal... then I couldn't see a thing and he missed. (Didn't want to stand up too much as there were little kids behind me..) I had to watch it a few times on the TV to work out how he did it!

I think there is a difference between "supporters" and "fans".
I get to a couple of games per season, buy the shirts and other memorabilia, pay for sky sports, yet I in no way see that as "supporting" the team as much as the people who go to everygame, including the euro games.
Now as the original poster said there is a number of reasons. Living down south, it would cost me a ridiculous amount to go to loads of games, and I have bigger priorities at the moment for my money like buying a house, plus there is no way I could be arsed to travel for 4-5 hours each way all the time.
I think we are all great "fans" of the club, but some "fans" "support" the club better than others. It is as simple as that IMO.

      Hope that makes sense ;D
I've supported Liverpool since the early 60's when my schoolfriend and I used to go and see them most Saturdays. When I grew up I couldn't go as much (Iwas in the WRAF and based away most of the time), and now I can't go because I have difficulty walking, and parking near the ground is a problem.

I agree with your statement that some support the club more than others. I take my hat off to those who follow the team all over the country and abroard.

We go to as many games as we can - home and abroad. It costs a fortune and sometimes it's bloody hard work. We don't see ourselves as any better than anyone else supporting the club - when I was pregnant and the kids were small I didn't go at all for a while.

No fan is better than any other fan - but to our Irish friend who turned off the tv at half time in the 2005 CL final and went to bed, thus not knowing the result til the next day - What kind of ****in fan are yer?!

          Ah yes, the drunken haze.

I forgot about that. Whenever i'm at a match i ALWAYS have a few down me which inevitably causes me to miss some of the action...

I don't usually drink too much but at West Brom away last season I was plastered! Best away of the season West Brom - will miss it.

There are plenty of fans in the world who are armchair supporters that would give their right arm to be a season ticket holder. They're just not as fortunate to have one.
There's also the fact that inertia develops as you get older and you can't be arsed to traipse round the country when just about all the games are on Sky. When I was a teenager I went to all games, home and away and this carried on for many years, so I've seen us live many hundreds of times at dozens of stadiums.

Basically I've done my time and would now prefer to go to the odd game when I go back to Liverpool to see the family and watch most games on the box these days. But I'm as committed and passionate as I ever was and am no worse a fan for it.

i live in stevenage and it takes me 2 1/2 to 3 hrs each way to get to anfield. i try to get to as many games as i can afford which is about 1 sometimes 2 a month.
all other games i make sure i watch on tv.
the problem is you cant beat the atmosphere at the ground
