Dirk? No way, he's 100% stayin

Stevie like Kuyt is no playmaker though.

Dirk's definitely staying. He's done very very well in the unfamiliar role he's been asked to play. He'll be better for having played there.

        I totally agree

He needs to be alongside a striker, not behind one.

Workrate should be a given and i dont think Kuyt's name should be held up in lights for it, the very very least we should expect from every Liverpool player is that they will graft hard and work for the team for 90 mins. If you take that away from Dirk then there is very little else IMO, and certainly not enough for him to be a regular starter for us.
In his defence, i think its Rafas tactics more than anything that have made him drop in as an extra midfielder more often than not this season, and i would like to see him given a run as the striker furthest forward.
In no way, shape or form does he have the ability or nous to be a link player between the midfield and the front line.
Its his first season, and its been average at best for me. This next season is when he needs to produce because he will be judged, 2 seasons is enough for anyone.
IMO I think he'll be found wanting unfortunately and if we get the strikers we want i can see him being 3rd or 4th choice.

Although for me Kuyt's been a disappointment, there's absolutely no way that Bellamy's had a better season. The only striker in our squad who's had a worse season than Bellamy is Fowler and that's because he's hardly played.

I like Kuyt but more importantly i think he would do far better for us if he was allowed to play as a striker!
We need wingers to supply the big strong centre forward that is Kuyt...otherwise, as we have seen, he tries his heart out but isnt as effective when he plays amc.....next season will be Kuyts acid test.

The thing is the more I see our side develop the more I feel that the problem is that we don't consistantly exploit the wings. In games when we do our forwards tend to gravitate more to the box and be more of a threat.

I really suspect that with wide plyers that both troubled their fullback and occasionally shot on goal we would see a lot more from the forwards we currently have. I think that Kuyt has it in him to make a big improvement on the form he showed this year - on a few occasions he showed that he can be very effective in the box and he has consistantly shown good awareness of people (usually Gerrard) making runs around him. I think within a more creative team who presented a wider variety of threats he would excel.

I really can't see the similarities between Kuyt and Tevez apart from both being less than aesthetically pleasing. Kuyt can act as a target man holding the ball up and bringing others into play, whilst Tevez likes to dribble, taking players on and using flair and pace to beat them. Whilst you could hit a long pass to Kuyt you could not take this approach with Tevez. Yes both have played the deep lying role; however, when Tevez was played further up the field his talent truly shone with an impressive tally of goals towards the end on the season. Personally I think they would make a great tandem.

Judging by what Balague said, we'll be getting either tevez or torres to play behind Kuyt. He will now play up front.

My only problem with this, is that i feel Kuyt lacks pace and technical ability to play right up top.

                          Yup.
Sadly, Kuyt was not the player I thought. Good, but not superb.

For - Work rate, attitude, determination, team player.

Against - Poor first touch, no pace, no technical ability, limited vision when in possession, not a prolific goalscorer, average at best in the air, one footed.

Its a no-brainer for me, get the strikers we want and Dirk will be a squad player.
