For - Work rate, attitude, determination, team player.
Against - Poor first touch, no pace, no technical ability, limited vision when in possession, not a prolific goalscorer, average at best in the air, one footed.
Its a no-brainer for me, get the strikers we want and Dirk will be a squad player.
Other than average in the air and taking into account he's been played as an AM, hence the prolific goalscoring, you could be describing Alan Shearer.
559 league games, 341 goals....we would all be laughing indeed.
"In fact I’m going to make a promise which will be welcomed by many. If there’s no finance secured by the opening day of the season, I’m going to hang up my keyboard and close KOPTALK down." - Duncan Oldham, Expert Conman. March 29th 2006
Haha. My point was he's played as a centre forward loads of times this season - I don't buy this "he's played in midfield" ****.
Shags when he was being played as a proper striker week in week out he was scoring every other game and coming up with assists as well. You can't deny his dip in form came when Rafa decided to play him deeper, in the kind of role we'd normally expect to see Garcia in. He's not a technically brilliant player but he does have core attributes that make him a really good player, put him alongside someone with more flair and he'll thrive IMO.
Hmmm. Too profligate for me. I'd love him to ram my comments back down my throat next season, but I'm not particularly impressed. I've seen elephants with a better touch than him, and having such technically limited strikers (we've had ****-loads of 'em in recent years) does my bloody head in.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

To be honest Shaggy I think he's been played as a second striker or very deep more often than not, how many times can you remember when he's played up top with Crouch, and Crouch gets the ball in the center circle only to find he can't knock it on because Kuyt is either alongside him or further back. If Kuyt played round the box more i think he'd have had another 5/6 league goals easily, but i think it's more to do with Rafa's tactics, the same could be said of Cisse but we wont go there

I genuinely think Kuyt can be our 25/30 goal a season man, if he didnt go chasing all over the bloody pitch! If the team was set up right and he stay much nearer the box more of the time the goal would come. I think the thinking may be towards this way of playing, cue Andri Voronin. Heres a player who is intelligent and experienced, and could do a similar job that Teddy Sheringham did for united .making things happen around the penalty area. Just a thought.
