Because Malouda is going to be occupying a crucial area of the pitch for us. Its just a thought, I am not impressed at all especially after his ranting about top quality.Originally posted by desertscouser View PostRash, if Rafa signs only Malouda and Voronin this summer then we're fooked. But he's clearly going to bring in some serious players so why don't we wait till the opening day of the season before determining whether United will be quaking in their boots or not?

If we end with Malouda but then as DS says get two other quality player say Mancini and Tevez I'd think we'd all be happy? You can't have out and out flair on both wings else team would attack us down the flanks and expose the fact they don't track back.Originally posted by Rashid View PostYes I know. But I have heard the Malouda thing from Bascombe today so it just about confirms it, added to Voronin, I'd question whether Rafa is very good at spotting attacking talent or is he just obsessed with grafters?

I think you are on a wind up.
But I'll humour you. Lets see, the opinion of some fan on a forum or the judgement of the manager?
And why haven't you included Lucas in this rant of yours?
Is it because you haven't seen him play yet and therefore can't formulate an expert analysis?
Malouda hasn't signed - yet. Voronin already has and you are judging them already. Shouldn't you wait and judge them on their performances for LFC - which is all that matters?
Weren't you one of the ones who slagged him off for buying Crouch?
And who says we won't sign a "top player" - according to yourself - whatever that is?I hate Polanski

It's early doors yet, Rashid. And we have also been linked with Tevez, Etoo and Alves, as well as Malouda. So I would hang back for a while yet before stoning Rafa, Tom and George.
Parry, now that is another issue....is he in Barbados btw?--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

considering the budget he has had, then yes he has. Pretty much every player he has signed has been 3rd or 4th choice because of money constraints.Originally posted by Rashid View PostFair enough, he has already shaken the world with his attacking signings...
I don't really understand the purpose of your post. You are assuming that after moaning about needing to spend big now, he will sign rubbish and perform poorly?
I don't know what you are basing this theory on. Veronin was signed before we got any cash and Rafa has yet to make to make his move for his '1st choice players'
How about waiting to see who he signs for how much cash and then waiting to see how we perform in the league.
Rafa = genius

Further few clubs will have a 4th choice striker wit Voronin's pedigree (assuming we do sign a class striker!). He's scored and set up around 20 goals this season and done that regularly in Bundesliga for the last 5 or so years. You can't have 4 out and out quality strikers else you'll have an unhappy squad

voronin was pre-investment. and malouda wasn't he the footballer of the year in france and has been playing out of his skin lately?Originally posted by Rashid View PostWhat's that for?
We appear to be close to signing Malouda, and already have Voronin... after banging on about top players, he gets these two. He is obsessed with grafters."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

I haven't seen Lucas but then I doubt he is better than Gerrard and Alonso so he won't be a HUGE improvement, Malouda is barely and improvement on Riise.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostI think you are on a wind up.

I didn't say we won't buy a top player, I said the signings of Malouda and Voronin are laughable when you consider the type we need to challenge. These are what he would sign normally with no money.
Going back to judgement - so you think Rafa is good at spotting attacking talent? Anything to back this up?

Jesus man, we had to take a loan just to buy Kuyt.

Riise is a left back though he's no left mid so why compare him to Malouda? And to be fair as I've said on numerous threads the last few days I would get rid of Riise anyway...
But on Malouda he was player of the year in an admittedly poor league. But Lyon are no mugs - they constantly do well in the champs league and for him to be singled out as their best player says something.
Plus he plays regularly for France who are hardly a bad side...
I have to be honest and say I have hardly seen him play but on paper he looks like an improvment on our squad. That said any winger of any sort probably is an improvement
