Good post Michael - in fact a great post. I just think Rafa has built up a lot of the expectation by saying how he wants to buy top quality players this summer and he needs money. I'd hate for him to waste that on 6 average players as opposed to 3 world class ones. Malouda has all the hall marks of good but not good enough for and we have several of those.

Eldest lad (19 now) is at Sheffield Uni, gets very fanatical about the reds, and has converted a few non-believers to the right way!!!

I don't think he will. But with Dudek, Zenden, Fowler, Bellamy, Gonzales. and possibly several others going, he can't replace them all with "world class" players. Voronin was a free, and I don't believe Rafa would just buy Malouda right at the start of the window (if he does) unless he was his first choice for that position.

Every club has a budget and, honestly not having watched Malouda closely enough to really say myself, if he's a top target and value for money then I can't see a problem. Lucas is a great buy, you have to take a risk with South American kids, but this guy is up there with the best of his age on the continent, who'd usually be off to Real or Barca.

I believe we will see 2 "exciting" transfers to us this summer, and nothing that's happened so far changes that.

Sorry that you are expecting Ronaldo, Giggs, Ribery, Joaquin et al to show up already Rash. End of the day Malouda is not going to be the only fella coming in, has it occurred to you that he is shifting some other dross as well so Malouda would fill their squad positions?

I think you are little early with your post Rashid, wait till Rafa has finished all his summer transfer activities then make the post, I doubt that Voronin and Malouda will be as good as it gets for us this summer, besides, Moulouda has been impressive this season and obviously offers attributes that Rafa tactics require in a balanced team. Same can be said of Voronin.
I still think these we be big changes in the squad this summer, and I think Rafa will be more than willing to lie in his bed.
