Adam Hammill - Could he do a job for us

Could he be a good backup for the left/right wing ?

Out-on-loan winger Adam Hammill has spoken of his disappointment at missing out on a Scottish Cup winner's medal.
The Scouse winger played a key part in Dunfermline reaching Saturday's final, only to have his cup dream shattered by a late Celtic strike.

Hammill will now return to Liverpool but has yet to be told what his future holds.

"Hopefully, I will have plenty of other opportunities in future to reach more finals because the experience of this one has been fantastic," he said.

"Unfortunately, it looks as if my time is up at Dunfermline but I've loved every minute of my spell at the club and I'd like to thank every Pars fan. They have given me tremendous backing.

"I'm leaving with a lot of fond memories and we'll wait and see what develops back at Liverpool.

"My plan is to play first-team football next season but I don't yet know if it will be at Liverpool or another club.

"Hopefully, Rafa Benitez will give me the chance to prove what I can do but I'll respect his decision, no matter what it is.

"If I'm not in his first-team plans yet I'll understand and hopefully go out on loan again for more experience."

I doubt he's ready. He seemed to spend quite a lot of time on the bench for Dunfermline, and I can't see him going from their bench to ours in such a short time.

I say send him on-loan to a newly promoted Prem club, like Derby or Birmingham.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Sorry, thought he was a regular there with him talking about playing first team football and having had a taste at that.

Malouda, Leto and Hammill for the left?

Would be nice to have someone come through after so long. Only Rafa and the other coaching staff will know if he's good enough yet.

Okay, I've just checked and he's been on the bench about four or five times...must have been every single time I looked.

Still don't think he's ready yet.

Ehhh, that is wrong. He played in almost every game from the start and was often voted as Dunfermlines MoM.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I remember I saw a clip of him last season whilst playing for the first team in those pre-season friendlies. He looked quite good and tricky and I instantly thought that he could be one for the future. He reminds me a bit of Stevie Mac.

If Kewell is off then I would use Hammill as a backup to our new left winger. I think he is ready for that.

Buy Giles Barnes and let them have Hammill on loan.

As posted above, it must've been every time I looked at the Dunfermline teamsheet (not often, admittedly) he was on the bench. He started many more games than not.

I saw those Dunfermline threads proclaiming one particular performance as "the greatest at East End Park for 40 years" but I wouldn't buy into the hype. Encouraging, but I think he's got a bit to learn yet.

You wont know until you try him.
I have to say, I have just loved reading his articles this season, everything he says has been the right thing to say, he is showing great attitude and commitment. I hope he gets the chance to show us what he can do. I think he has the talent personally, he has been doing things in Scotland a a lot of our squad would not be able to do. We have been crying out for a genuine tallented homegrown player for the wing wince MAcca left. Give him a shot Rafa. Atleast ive him a good pre season to show what he can do.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

The lad seems really good each time I've seen him play for the reserves or from pre-season friendlies, and that was more than one year ago. He had a year of first team footie under his belt, I bet he can force his way into the first team like Stevie Warnock did a couple of years ago. It's his responsibility for the step up now.

Are you serious? There is absolutely NO way he'd be ready for us. Has a helluva lot to learn. I say let him play in the championship for a year (he's not even ready for a premiership club).

Good prospect though (so was Ritchie Partridge).

Ps. the Scottish FA cup match was just about as bad as the English FA cup one.

Damn! You're probably correct there Rob.

Hmmm...it's difficult to tell. I think if anyone is ready at this point it is him. It's clear he has matured as a player and person during his loan spell. Personally I'd look to have him in the mix this season.
