Did we lose money on Josemi though? We essentially swapped him for Kromkamp. So we bought Josemi for more than we sold Kromkamp for? Doesn't seem right if true. Jan might've been a bit of a limp dick but at least he could play a bit.

The question though, is of those players brought in to revamp the majority of the squad (several at quite some expense), how many have been of a higher enough quality to warrant it?

Stats can be viewed in many ways, for example, United have had a very successful squad for 15 odd years, which mean that since 2003 they have only had to buy 16 players while we have had to buy 45 players. Or in other words, United can afford an average spend of over £7m a player, while we can afford an average spend of £2.5m a player.
