his all round play was again very good and he was our best player in more games than not.

overall in the premier league we were poor away from home. in many of the games where the team were dissapointing, it was also in these games where gerrard played below par.

you should try and understand that if the team plays badly then a player like gerrard will see less of the ball, more likely to tire, be caught out of position and find it harder to have an impact on a game.

sure he can do better, i certainly hope thats the case, but you are too keen to say hes been poor your criticism is over the top.

you only single out gerrard because you know you will get a reaction from people and your posts smacks of coming from a bored teenager looking for attention

To be fair I agree with Marky. Gerrard wasn't himself last season but he wasn't the only one. It almost seemed as though when he wanted to play, like Barcelona, he was immense but when he didn't want to he was sulking, like Arsenal and Utd away.
However there were rumours that he had problems with his soon to be wife at that stage, but i don't want to get into that.

I think with a proper break for the first time in 3 years, we will see the Gerrard of the 02/03 and 05/06 season

So probably Marky can't articulate his points all that well but giving him the benefit of the doubt, I think he's fairly accurate about Stevie this season

i think the majority of fans recognise that while he maybe didnt hit the hieghts of last year he still put in a great shift in a red shirt.

        but poor? far from it.

Mate, a poll on the official website means squat, we had our own player of the season on here an Gerrard wasn't top of that, and he didn't deserve to be either. Like I said it was a poor season by his standards not a poor season in general.

That poll is bollocks though - Stevie Finnan on NINE points behind Bellamy, Fowler Pennant and Sissoko? Ridiculous in the extreme.

Sorry, but that player of the year thing is a joke.
I wouldn't use that as proof of anything.

                interesting opinions!

but you wont convince me mine is wrong.

no way. to call him 'a shadow of the player that dominated almost every match the season before' is way over the top regardless of wether people think he was good by his own standards or not.

maybe people are bored? too much bull on these forums with people going over the top imho.

or maybe we just have a difference of opinion, like I said maybe it's not worded correctly a shadow of the player would be harsh, but he wasn't up to his usual standards last season as I suspect you'll agree

I know it wont be the most popular of post on here, but im genuinley looking forward for Kewell to be given a run in the side to really show what he can do. I hope he can have a totally injury free season.

Oh wise up son, stop being so paranoid about my intentions when i slated Gerrard last season, in some games i thought he was utter ****e, didn't look like he gave a fcuk etc etc. It was there for everyone to see and i'm not the only one to highlight it btw.
                      Have a nice day.

I'm not sure it's the thing I'm most looking forward to, but I'm generally in agreement with this. A fit and flying Harry would be a big boon to our chances of doing well next season and, as any Leeds fan will tell you, he's never as good as when he's in the last season of a contract....

You are the clown. SG was WAY below his best this season. There was a thread on this seasons biggest underperformer and the consensous was that it was SG.

No mickey mouse World Cup should result in a well rested Stevie G. He'll be on fire.
