Out of interest, I compiled a table to show the goals per game ratio of every player in the top five European leagues this season.

It only includes players that have played ten or more games and scored ten or more goals.

How embaressing that defenders like Ezequiel Garay (class defender) but he shouldn't be outscoring our strikers/attacking mids. Gilberto Silva too.

If you look through that list there are actually quite a few players that we've never thought about (and will never be considered) which would be nice additions to our squad.

While the list is interesting, it should not be used as a foundation as to who we should sign of course. A useful insight, for sure, but going by the list Berbatov and Pongo are equal for instance.
The different leagues/teams they play in/roles in the team and so on must also be considered. Goes without saying really.

Gotta be honest didn't realise Diego Milito was so in form, can't argue with the stats if we did sign him up and he adapts to our league, he'd be a class signing

Crouch isn't there because he didn't score 10+ goals in the EPL (I assume these stats are based on the league and not all comps).

I don't think the goals to games ratio tells the whole story. Crouch got 9 goals from only 19 starts and rarely got a full game.

He would be just below Messi on this list.

This data is useful but what would be helpful to go along side it is a goals to starts ratio or a goals to minutes played ratio.

Milito does look like a good option. Does anyone have his stats for other seasons so we can see if it's a one season wonder or the real thing?

Got these stats for now:

1999–2004 - Racing Club 137 apps (34 goals) Ratio 0.25
2004–2005 - Genoa 59 apps (33 goals) Ratio 0.55
2005–present - Real Zaragoza 72 apps (38 goals) Ratio - 0.52

2005– Argentina - 10 apps (5 goals) ratio 0.5

So it seems since 2005 he's scored at least 1 in every two games, however Genoa were in the italian second division, but his recent record in spain and for Argentina looks pretty impressive

If he's in the 10m region I'd be happy if Rafa went for him rather than 20m+ on Torres or Villa.

Not sure if I prefer him to Eto'o at 35m+ if we have the money but that's just because I'd love to see a front page big name signing to get excited over.

My brain says Milito at 10m+, especially since Eto'o will be in the Africans Cup next year. What are the dates for that? If it's January we could be lucky with the fixures. As long as he was back for Chelsea on 9th Feb maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
