I think he is overrated. Great passer, neat and not afraid to get stuck in. But he's sluggish off the mark and once anyone gets passed him it's "Hasta la vista"

That's why he doesn't let anyone past him.

If anything he is underrated. If he doesn't pull off twenty 50-yard mega passes in a match people jump on his back for not being "as good as he was in his first season". No ****, he was one of the best players in the world in his first season.

A remarkable passer of the ball, and also the cleanest tackler and most intuitive midfielder we have.

Obviously Xabi has talent. But for his talent to be fully utilised he needs players in front of him making runs into space, dragging defenders out of position so that he can play his exquisite passes.

When our attacking players are static it limits his game a lot as he does not have the ability to go past opposition midfielders to create space for himself.
If we buy some quality for the wings and up front I think we can see much more of Xabi's ability next season
