no chance of being closer, IMO.

I think we will have to have a better season than last to finish above the arsenal and keep third.

If henry stays, then they have him and van persie back up front.

Thats another 9/10 points added to last seasons total for the games they missed, minimum.

Man utd are now even further ahead with the hargreaves signing.

Chelsea wont get as many injuried, cech and terry in particular, and will have cover at CB (ben haim etc...). They will spend a bit too i think.

And with the other teams being stronger they will take points off each other wont they? So we may well be able to close the gap some more.

i think arsenal took points off all of them last season.

What if they dont this season and we dont either?

What if your nan was a man?

We didnt finish way of the pace by not going to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Highbury and winning, we finished miles away by not beating **** like Everton at home and Villa away etc.

What a ludicrously flawed argument that is! I agree, a lot of teams will get stronger next season. I think Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle etc. will be much tougher to beat, but that goes for us as well as anybody else. Clutching at straws my friend.

I think I'll reserve judgement until our squad is finalised. I can't believe how negative everyone is already.

Ok, so Utd have spent a lot, but so did Chelsea last season and they went backwards.

The way some people are on here I think they'd rather we just gave up on the league now.

You know what, I'm not going to wait to see our signings, I reckon we're going to win the Premiership this coming season.
No, no, no.........I'm only scary 'cause I'm hairy

Big year for me 2008, hope it all goes well for me, oh, and you lot too!

                  LOL

look back at the last 8-10 seasons if you want.

                  We have finished second once.

Other than that we have been, what, between 15 points and 40 points off the top spot.

We need this summer and next summer to bring in some top quality up front and on the wings.

Then maybe the season after this we can talk of being under 10 points off the top spot given the current power, and squads, at man utd and chelsea.

For all the Raffa doubters- who could do better?? :whatever:

                    Stat's speek for themselves.

Champions League Winners, FA Cup Winners. Record cleansheets, more wins in first hundred wins than managers, record number of points in a season etc etc.

It's not Raffa's fault that we haven't bought players for £20M+ like our main competitors.

And Raffa cannot control other team's results, eg record points for LFC but Chelsea still Top. Read the ****in title......3 YEARS!!!!

Give the guy a ****in break. No-one could have achieved more in that time with the resources he had.

I trust Raffa, given the right backing (by club and Fans) to bring us further success!
Well said mate, none of us are ecstatic with 3rd but their have been improvements in nearly every area of the team/squad and I for one believe if Rafa can get the players he really wants then we will be geuine title contenders.
People forget how bad it was when Ged left and the ****e that had to be gotten rid of and also that the Scum were/are still strong and strengthening all the time, also Chelski prior to Jose were on the way up already.

Managers that could do better for us DOMESTICALLY

Hiddink, O'Neill, Hughes to name three.

to the second bit.........that was just in response to what you said before. I agree - we have to win as many as possible (obviously!! ).

We just need to get a good start really, and rafa not to try ****ing 4-5-1 at the start of the season again - like he does every year. That costs us about 5 points before october has ended.

Football is far from being an exact science.

I bet Chelski thought they were destined for 3 in a row after signing Shevchenko and Ballack, whilst Utd fans were depressed with only Carrick strengthening their squad and RVN leaving.

Chris la' I think it depends on who he buys this summer and how quickly they fit in, I've put €15 on us to win it at 10-1 today just before we sign Tevez.
I believe Alonso and Gerrard will have much better seasons next year as will Kuyt putting us much closer to the top before we buy anyone.

                                1. Voronin is not good enough for Liverpool FC, free or not. Yet to be proven
                                2. Samuel Eto'o will not be a Liverpool player next year. So he's not the only top striker around
                                3. We are as far from winning the league with Rafa as we were under Ged. No we're not we have a stronger team/squad and have shown more to our game.

They are the three serious issues I have become embroiled with. Which bits of this do you disagree with? Be honest, I'm not wrong am I.....
