Van Basten was a pretty handy finisher too.

Not that Kuyt's anywhere near his class, or van Nistelrooy's, but still....

maybe, but he doesnt strike me as the most technical of players, defo a hard worker, with a bit of luck he will score a few more next season

Really like him as a player and think he had a pretty decent first year for us and is only going to get better as he knows the system better and when (hopefully) we bring in a better calibre of player. Obviously playing more up top will help too.

                Is the right answer.

Bergkamp wasn't a bad finisher either

I think people are slightly unfair on Kuyt - especially later in last season when he played deeper. Early in the season he did well as a finisher higher up the pitch. He may never be a truly clinical striker but he does well at getting shots in and doind so with power.

His habit of controling the ball to put it away from his body to **** at goal is a waist at times, especially when played deeper.

His movement and awareness is very good. If we have more midfield support for the striker(s) I think we will see a lot more from him.

Terri Summers isn't a bad finisher. Although to be fair to your argument Loco, she's a Dutch woman not a Dutchman.

Martin Jol called kuyt a 20+20 player (goals + assists). If we play him up front I believe given enough games he could get that. The few games I saw him up front he looked like the good old fashioned CF.

It seems a good assessment. I think he may find it hard to get 20 goals due as much to our rotation as anything else.

Yeah, but surely Rafa played him much more than anyone else up front.

                            Starts

                            Kuyt: 27
                            Crouch: 19
                            Bellamy: 23

                            What about 15+15 then

That would a very good return but I think that it is not beyond the realms of possibility. I think he will surprise some people next year.

I like the optimism. I do think Kuyt will improve in the second year, and that will make him a very valuable player to us.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.
