Our central defence is as good as it gets, we are OK at right back but left back is weak.

Central midfield is as good as it gets but we need wingers - Kewell and Pennant are OK but not title winners, hopefully we will bring in one or two quality signings here.

I'm not convinced by our strikers, Crouch and Kuyt are not prolific and Torres and Voronin will need a season to settle.

We won't win the title next season because we won't score enough goals - Gerrard is our only real goal threat from midfiled and we still do not have the instinctive striker up front. Assuming we bring in EG Mancini and Queresma then maybe the season after once everyone is more settled but it's a lot of ifs.

Unless we sign some excellent wingers we will not win the league. As we line up now both Chelsea and Manure have better teams. Tevez has increased the gap between us and Manure.

Not basing it on anything mate, just harsh facts. Whilst we are doing a reasonable job buying talent, it seems we could easily be left behind by Chelsea and Manure, if they decide to splash the money on players such as Tevez, Malouda, Alves and Pato.

In any case, we're discussing things in here, and it's all about opinions and deductions. We'll just have to wait & see until the season starts if we could really be in a position to aim for the title.

Seriously , you lot think Slur Alex bought Tevez to play in the league ? It's the CL he's after . His defence isn't getting any younger or better either . AAnd Scholes and Giggs are pushing on , they had a good injury free season last time , will it be the same again ? Being pessimistic is no way to start a season such as this . Why? are we playing them 38 times this coming season or are we playing 19 teams twice. Utd will not get more points than last season so if we can up our game then there is no reason why we wont be competing.

Plus, I´m actually more worried about Hargreaves, he will give them more needed improvement. But it´s a big ask winning nr.19 this season.

Every season I have said we will win the league, this year I am not saying that, not because of utd but because I am more realistic, we need a couple more players and give them time to gel, the following season we ill do it.
People need to remember that we have a very strong team and if we get a new left back and 2 great wingers we will have one of the strongest first teams around.

Personally I think we will come second this year, but will win it next time around. Our new players will need a little bit of time to adapt.

As usual our new players have to have their season or two to 'adapt' while Utd's and Chelsea's slot straight in and help them win no.17/no.4. In response to this LFC make more signings next summer to help us get that elusive no.19 but then they need time to adapt as well, meanwhile Utd and Chelsea's new players slot straight in again and help them win number....

Sooner or later we have to have at the very least a strong title challenge - I think Rafa's fourth season in charge is the right time.
