I think we could have increased our points tally even without reinforcements this summer.
The players would be more gelled and lessons from last season would/will be learned.
And on top of that Stevie's gonna be good and rested and on fire like hell this season.
Don't mind the reinforcements though, and can't ****in wait until it kicks off again.

We will be in big problems if Carra or Agger get a long term injury. Hyypia is still a good player but not good enough anymore to play week in week out.

Hyppia is still one of the best defenders in europe. Arbeloa is capable in the middle. We also have jack hobbs and paletta also. Paletta btw is no where near as bad as some people make out. I think hes gonna be a decent player in time.

The poor ****er had dudek behind him every time he played, he was a bag of nerves. He knew that any shot at goal whatsoever was gonna fly in and make him look a ****. Remember the arsenal games? The Dude:whatever: had summat like 11 shots at him in 2 games yet let in 10 goals

I mean why the hell should we not think we can win it or at very least mount a serios challenge?
We've got investment...Torres and more to follow. Rafa has already assembled a very, very good team, all we need is 2-3 players to go into the starting line up, we've got youth on our side, we'e got experience, good cover in important areas ie centre of the park and now a decent looking forward line, a superb defence and top class goalkeeper, the one area were need strenghtening is the wide areas but Rafa knows this so i expect to see at least one winger brought in before the season kicks off.
It's time for this club to return to the top and in Rafa i think we have the right man in place to do just that.
A good start is essential this season.

Spot on, we won't win it next season but we will get a lot closer, I would hope to be still in contention in April and be about 5pts behind and in second at the end of the season. If we do that there is no reason why we cant do it the following season.

It'd be a miracle if we only missed out by 5 points. Unless there's at least two more huge signings before 11th august.

I dissagree,they can only play 11 players at a time.Lets look at it man for man.Marks out of 10:

Reina-Van der sar 8-7

Pepe for me any day.

Finnan-Neville 8-7

Has there been a more consistant player than Finnan.I doubt Neville will ever be the same after almost a year out.

Carra-ferdinand 9-8

Nothing to choose between them in terms of ability,positional sense and tackling,but for passion and leadership qualities,Carra comes on top.

Agger-Vidic 8-8

I think they have both adapted really well to the premiership.Vidic is the stronger of the two with more pace,but Aggers awareness and ball playing qualities are better.


Riise-Evra 7-8

Evra is proberbly the better defender of the two but going forward and getting goals Riise wins hands down.Riise's not that bad a defender either.


Pennant-Ronaldo 7-9

At present not many players in world football better than Ronaldo in his position.After a poor start,i really think Pennant came on alot in the last few monthes of the season and think he will only get better.

Gerrard-Scholes 9-8


No one better than Gerrard in the middle of the park.Scholes's return last season made all the difference to them,But does he have the legs this time around?


Mascher-Carrick 8-7


I have to admit that when we signed Mascher,i did raise an eyebrow,but my god can this guy play.He is an excellent footballer full of energy and great positinal sense.Good passer but could be better.Thats the only thing Carrick proberbly has over him.


Kewell-Giggs 7-8

I think a fit Kewell can make a hugh difference to our wing play.He can also score goals aswell.I really hope he can remain injury free as i believe him alone can make a difference of maybe 10 points.Giggs had an outstanding season last year but the legs maybe going a little.


Torres-Rooney 8-8


This is one i found most difficult to rate.For all of Roonies aproach play and all action style,for me he just doesn't score enough goals to be truly world class.As for Torres,we have bought someone who has been outstanding in an average to poor team.He looks the part and from what i've seen of him,i am really happy.But time will tell only.

Crouch-Saha 8-7


Crouch imo,is an excellent player to have upfront.What he lacks in pace he more than makes up for in his link up play,holding the ball,skill and scores his fair share.Hardly ever injured and a great pro.Saha although fast and strong,doesn't play enough sometimes and little to eager in front of goal.Misses quite a few sitters as does Crouch to be fair.

Veronin and lucas,Nani and Anderson are yet to play so i'm not commenting on them but as we havn't finished our summer buying it proberbly evens it out at this stage.

Player for player rating systems are beyond crap....

Most of those players are as they were last season - so why did we finish 20 odd points behind? Why didnt fate obey your ratings?
