Reds in Setanta TV deal
Jul 11 2007 by Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo
LIVERPOOL today announced details of a multi-million pound deal with Setanta Sports as they prepare to launch the club’s TV channel.
Subscribers to the Irish sports network, which recently won the rights to screen 46 live Premiership games this season, will now receive Liverpool TV as part of their package.
From September, Liverpool fans will be able to watch delayed coverage of all the club’s fixtures, as well as live reserve games and six hours a day of original broadcasts.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry, who chose Setanta’s three-year offer ahead of a rival bid from Sky, believes it’s an exciting development for the club.
He said: “We’ve been thinking about this for some time, but until Setanta came to us with an extremely attractive offer, I wasn’t entirely convinced by the traditional model of club TV stations.
“What’s attractive about this package is it’s available to all subscribers. The channel is effectively a free addition on top of what’s available as part of the Setanta Sports pack.
“The channel heralds a new era for Liverpool Football Club.
“We always welcome the opportunity to engage with our fantastic fan-base and LFC TV will bring them closer to the club and the team they love, at what is a very exciting time both on and off the pitch."
Several top clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Celtic and Rangers have been broadcasting their own channels for several years, but, unlike Liverpool’s deal, they all demand an additional subscription.

I hope that they will show our reserves and youngsters when they play.
It would be interesting to see them in full games week in week out.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

cant you just wash a few cars for some more pocket moneyOriginally posted by cled the red View PostI'm with you on this one - I think Liverpool have dropped a bollock here. As a lover of all sports, IMO Sky Sports is much better than Setanta Sports and therefore I subscribe to Sky.
Can't afford to subscribe to both (if I want to eat!!) so here's one LFC fan who will not have access to this channel.
