Liverpool to sign Ajax striker Babel for 17 million euros

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Liverpool have reached agreement with Ajax Amsterdam to sign forward Ryan Babel for 17 million euros ($23.43 million), the Dutch club said on Thursday.
"The striker, who had a contract until 2010 will sign a five-year deal with the Champions League finalists," Ajax said on its official Web site.
Babel was a member of the Netherlands team that won the European Under-21 championship on home soil in June.

Great stuff. He will be fantastic for us. A pacy direct winger/forward who also has the trickery and flair to beat players in tight situations. He knows when to use his tricks too, unlike Ronaldo. he also has a nice strike/finish on him. he will supply a lot of ammo for Torres to bury.

Good signing this is, I like Babel. He's a good young player who can come in and settle in quickly as most Dutch players do in the Prem. Great summer so far. I will be happy if we dont sign anyone else after Babel & Benayoun.
