Looks like Kuyt isn't afraid of hard work and has a brain on him - so aslong as he has the talent, he has a chance of being a success.

I dont remember Moro making such an impressive debut, he looked rusty and we were all hoping he just needs a couple of months to regain match fitness and get adapted to the EPL but he never did.
On the other hand, Kuyt looked he has been playing in the EPL for 10 seasons already and immediately built an understanding with his team mates. Rafa is right, Kuyt is a very intelligent player.

He's only played 40 minutes, not nearly enough evidence to suggest he'll cut it.
Don't get me wrong I also think he'll be a good signing but everyone to a man thought the same about Morientes, and look how that turned out.
He did link up well with Gerrard, none of our other strikers have done this to date. Interesting."In fact I’m going to make a promise which will be welcomed by many. Fair enough - but don't you dare start saying he's the new Heskey.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquintI say lets be careful on this one.

T'was some debut
Whilst I'd seen him a few times, and thought he would be good for us, I didn't expect Kuyt to be just so energetic and to make such an immediate impact - he buzzed around like a (blonde) hornet, always looking for the ball and he also has an eye for a pass as well as for goal. It looked like he and Stevie g. had been playing together for years too - there were so many good signs that even though he only got 25 minutes on the pitch you could see that there should be plenty more to come from Dirk.
Top debut...

Yeah same for meOriginally posted by hoeyd2He's also faster than I had been lead to believe.
I had been led to believe that he was, "like a carthorse" "as slow as Moro" "leaden footed" etc etc.
I think (hope) that REDSCOUSER has called this one right "an Alan Shearer" type of player. Not the speed of Henry or Cisse but quick enough and with all round quality.
Early doors yet , but looks good

My opinion was based on 2 years of watching Kuyt play for Feynoord, on the telly like but still he impressed me.
To be honest I watched Cisse for 2-3 years and formed a strong opinion & argument that he will be a hit for us but sadly it did not work for him(under GED he would have been a riot, playing on the counter attack).
Back to Kuyt who got quite an ovation from Kopites at the end of the match.
Four shots in 40 minutes is more than any RED during the game.
Most Dutch players adapt well to the Prem becasue it's as physical as the Eridivise. Good luck to the lad.18-5-7-8-3

Reminded me of the play of legends in eras gone by - he could be immense for us.
Best points made about the lad.
I thought the same.
Curbishley was talking about him after the match and again on Goals on Sun. and said he's the type of player fans and teamates will both love.
He'll run all day and chase every ball, good or bad,and make something of it.
Really impressed with him.

Of course he ****ing isn't. Heskey is the cart horse to end all cart horses. I actually think it's a disgrace that second raters like Jewell, Ged and Fathead spent millions on him and gave him millions in salary during his career. That's the price of "potential" apparently. Shame Emile never had any.Originally posted by scullyFair enough - but don't you dare start saying he's the new Heskey.
Red scousers comparison of Kuyt and Shearer is thankfully more accurate. But still he's no Shearer, then again very few are.I hate Polanski

Agree Shearer is Shearer and Kuyt is his own man. One thing Kuyt has that Shearer never had is that extra yard or two of pace.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquintRed scousers comparison of Kuyt and Shearer is thankfully more accurate. Disagree. People forget that before his serious knee injury that Shearer played on the last shoulder, and did it effectively.Originally posted by REDSCOUSERAgree Shearer is Shearer and Kuyt is his own man. One thing Kuyt has that Shearer never had is that extra yard or two of pace.
He was never fast I'll admit, but during his Blackburn days especially he had a good turn of pace. Then again the players in the Premiership in general back then probably weren't as quick as they are now.
I just hope Rafa gives 2 of Crouch, Kuyt or Bellamy the chance to form a partnership. Rotate yes, but it's a bit of overkill at times.I hate Polanski
