The Crow stood out a mile and Torres look very lively when he came on.

Yossa did well enough as did Babel.

The defence looked a little creaky but then our first choice back line was never out there. Paletta looked uncomfortable and Hypia's lack of pace now is frightening.

The other established players all had a decent run out and played well, so all in all a good job well done.

I agree with those who say we still need to sign a quality right winger and have said so all last season and all through this transfer period.

World Class Winger: A mythical player dreamt up by masochistic LFC supporters who are on a mission to make the world (wide web) miserable and prove that Liverpool Football Club will never succeed in their bid to win the Premiership. It is often used as their most potent weapon when fighting the common enemy, uneducated, delusional followers who still harbour dreams of Premiership glory. It is quite common for this ‘world class entity’ to be mistaken for a mortal winger, however a simple rule of thumb can be applied to differentiate:

If a player is likely to join Liverpool Football Club, he can only be categorised as a substandard mortal winger, doomed before he even kicks a ball.

If there is not a hope in hell that a player will join Liverpool, and it is clear for everyone to see, then and only then can he be put into ‘world class’ category.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Voronin looked superb. It's strange how the ones we don't expect to be anything special surprise us.

Torres looked a good player. He perhaps never had the service that Voronin had but after 10 minutes he started to find his way. He's also alot bigger than I thought. He reminds me a bit of Drogba with his size, pace and mobility.

Babel looked okay but he was perhaps a bit to eager to get involved and kept coming in field, he would possibly have seen a bit more of the ball if he held his position out on the left.

Benayoun played quite well for his debut aswell but he'll be better used in the middle rather than out wide imho.

Gerrard played quite well first half and tried a few things that didn't quite come off.

All in all I thought it was a good run out for us against a good side. It was nice to see the new lads get a run out as well.

Voronin player really well. looks as if he is trying to prove a point to people that have doubted him.

Torres, looks quick and will score goals but wil probably be more of a provider.

Babel was a little to eager to impress, but looks as if he has pace, skill and likes to get his shot away. Doesnt seem like a winger to me.

Benayoun, time will tell, more of a bench warmer. he played ok, some nice touches.

Agree totally about Paletta, hoped he'd have been a major force by now, but probably time to loan him out or move him on. Sami while slow still cut out most attacks in the first half and would still be a decent option against the long ball premiership sides (alongside someone a little quicker!) Last season against Bolton Sami was immense, he is still big and exceptionally strong in the air......

For the Dutch u21's Babel wasn't a winger.... Might provide more goals from wide areas though..

Yeah, I agree with the statement that they will never cut it together (I think everyone should realise that after the Carling Cup defeat to Arse last season). In fact, I think Gabriel Paletta is the worst defender I've seen recently. Sloppy passes, can't man mark for ****, lazy and slow as fcuk! Don't know what Rafa sees in him ... Maybe physical presence, who knows?

Anyways, I'm left in raptures after tonights performance. I am very impressed with Voronin and Torres - I think those two should start in the next match. They'll cause mayhem, I promise you that
The curious thing is that I've watched a lot of him in the reserves and he has been awesome. I still maintain that a young defender playing along side Hyypia (instead of Carra) is bound to fail!!!!!!!!!!!

no overlapping full backs, no width, no title. too many teams will sit back and be happy with 0-0 or try and sneak a goal.

the crow surprised me, hope he can carry it through into the season proper. Yossi is an impact/playmaker at best wasted on the right.

Alves is the answer to our overlapping full back or right wing problem. We should save the 6 million we'll waste on heinze and put it towards Alves.

                            Still time though...

the babel signing is reallly interesting. he's not a winger and 5 strikers is 1 too many.
