Full-Time 2-0 to us. Not a great game but solid pre-season continues. Full games for Mihaylov and Palletta.
And Hobbs (although I can understand how you might have noticed he wasnt on the pitch!)
Was a dull dull game, but we won. The lads all lloked very heavy legged, I think Paco has been working them very hard to get them fit. Cant possibly judge any player based on that game, so please dont.
Just come back from the pub after watching the game. It's only a pre season game so I don't really care about the performance but that truly was dog turd
Well that was EGGciting game. El Zhar stood out for me in the 2nd half. He was taking a man on, crossing, shooting from distance. This lad will get a few games this coming season.
Babel's best contribution is his GOOD awareness where Gerrard was for the 1st goal, that dummy was nice.
-Voronin so far has been our best striker.
-Mihaylov was not tested that much but when that happened he spilled the ball a couple of times. Maybe nerves but he has to learn & improve.
-Torres missed another good chance 1on1 with the keeper. His work rate is very good. A few times he pressured the defenders and won the ball back for us. Defending from the front ala RUSH, well done lad.
-Alonso's passing is exemplery once again & Gerrard leading by example again.
I think Rafa slowly figuring out who is gonna be his starting 11 come the CL qualifiers & Villa.
Another win with 11 goals scored, 2nd clean sheet. Pre season form is promising for the MIGHTY REDS.

I'd agree with all that mate that's as much as we can take out of it.
Not very pleasing on the eye, thought the lads looked tired 2nd game in 3 days, looked hot on the pitch fairly energy zapping by the looks of it.
El Zhar has improved with each game I think a few more games will build his confidence and get him used to the physicality of the games at top level.
Watching some of the reserve games that's one thing I think he lacked was strength.
He has bags of skill and good vision looks to get at players.

I'm sure Rafa is encouraged by the form of El Zhar & other youngsters.

Just to add to what we've both said mate. Rafa seems to agree.
Rafael Benitez was full of praise for Moroccan starlet Nabil El Zhar after his impressive second half outing during the 2-0 win over Auxerre in Fribourg on Friday afternoon.
El Zhar created the second goal for Daniel Agger and was unlucky not to score himself after coming close on several occasions.
"It was a strange game in many ways because we didn't play to our normal level yet we managed to score two good goals, we have no injury problems and we kept a clean sheet, which is always good," commented Benitez.
"I thought El Zhar did a good job when he came on in the second half. Nabil is a player with pace and ability who wants to do well. He gave us fresh legs and I told him to try and change the game for us because everyone was feeling tired. I told him to try different things and try to score.
"It was very hot conditions and we have been training hard so we expected the players to feel a little tired. We have enjoyed our training camp in Switzerland and the players have worked very hard.
"We now have a long trip to Hong Kong and two more matches but we are looking forward to it, because it is important for the club to go there and see the supporters."
