I've just got in from work. I listened to the match on e-season but you don't get the same idea from listening as you do from watching.

How did people think we played, especially the new lads?

Benayoun good, but went inside too much for my liking.
Babel, was really bad. Looked nervous and tired.
Torres, agressive and lively. Looks class.

El Zahr was good too.
Xabi back on form it seems.
Kuyt also did well I thought.
New goalie - dodgy start, then ok.

Yea me too,but it's all about fitness and familiarisation at this stage.El zahr will never be good enough,at best a championship player,but i like the fact that these guys are given a chance.

Babel was pants,as was Torres.Gerrard stood out like a beacon as usual.The goalie did ok but i'm unconvinced.

Palleta did ok as did Arbeloa.

We really need a wing wizard. Benayoun is good but he ain't got that magic key that Garcia had.

All in all,we won the game and and at times (very rarely) played some good football.


Overall,we are desperate for that wizard,crying out for someone to take people on and create chances.We still havn't got it.

I watched it speeded up x30 and it was a ****e game really. TV coverage tossers (apparently not Setanta) even missed the second goal! FFS.

I know, what a joke that was. I'd resorted to watching at x6, and hastily rewound it when I realised we'd scored. I couldn't work out what the **** had gone on.

not helped by setantas commentary.repeated themselves over and over.
they all look knackered, probably only trained a few hours before.

It's too early to make judgements but I would offer the opinion that Babel will turn out to be a signing we didn't need to make at a price that was far too high.

Benayoun looks like a better Zenden, good motor on him but not sure he's got the flair of Garcia, as someone already mentioned.

Early days for Torres but already he does look a handful and the finishing will come as the pre-season develops.

The Crow continues to impress and if he continues to perform at this level will arguably find himself ahead of Kuyt in the pecking order.

Farken hell people already writing Babel off, after a pre season friendly, which is our fourth of the season. He hasn't been training that long with us you know.

Spot on, mate.

Give the lad time to develop an understanding of his team mates and what is expected of him. Quite hard for him to do that today when he was played in 3 different positions.

He's only 20, still developing as a player and has been here 1 week.

It was only a pre season game. not a cup final.

I think all the lads will improve, The likes of babel and Torres have just arrived, so it will take to settle and find there positions in the team.

Nabil El zahr looks like he could make a few appearences this season, Skillfull young winger, and with a few games, he will get better.

Not having a go at you specifically BF but I can't believe some of the comments on here about Babel, the lad is 20 years old and has already managed 14 caps for Holland scoring 4 goals, he has played approx 60 minutes in total in a Liverpool shirt in a couple of friendlies and is already been written off a ****e, lazy and not good enough by some people.

I think we have signed one of the best young players in Europe who will only get better for us, Babel will show his class and win a lot of people over this season
