Doesn't it get a bit like self congratulatory, up its own arse Jazz if you follow that argument through?

You stick a bloody great building in the middle of a community then tell them the reason they dont like it is because they dont apreciate architecture! Surely its up to the architecture to fit in with the community, not the other way round.

I actually like the outside, maybe lose some of the glass and get those ******* corners filled in with something!

i'd disagree with that mate.

I think people will always object to these modern buildings....its just the way most people are. They dont like change. They like things to stay in the "comfort zone". If it wasn't for architects and designers thinking outside these boundaries we would still be living in caves

I would like to know why the person who said "stupid modern architects" etc etc thinks that way......what is his ideal house/ stadium

Architecture sucks big time: Don't do it! - I've been a qualified Architect for years now & if I knew then what I know now I'd have gone in to something completely different

What they don't tell you at Uni is that 99% of your time is taken up by paperwork, admin, legal bollocks & boring ****ing meetings & only 1% is actual design work!

Lets face it Modern structures put places on the map. Bilbao was a ****hole before they spruced the place up with some cracking feats of modern architecture and engineering.

Alas, i feel i would be wasting my time trying to convert you...your probably only 12 or so.

But a building, a stucture, anything, is an Art work, Where as you are looking at the new Anfield to be a stadium im looking at it as a structure. I see another stupidly looking modern building. You see a modern stadium like no other showing the latest in technology. Fair enough, thats fine by me, im just saying that all this modern crap is boring, it's ugly and it's becoming further and further away from an Art masterpiece and more into a technological masterpiece.My ideal vision would to have The new Anfield built out of stone rather that tin cans and gray curvy pieces of plastic. My vision, im not knocking yours. If you want your bean can re-used thats great but I don't.

Bring back the Roman Coliseum! Stop Moving Forward! Boo, Change! My mind can't handle abstraction because I am an uneducated literalist! So you want the Colosseum? Your living in the past, if you do. A building out of stone is just not practical in todays world. It wopuld cost a **** load...and nobody would build it.....mainly due to stone being ****ing heavy The only reason those sorts of buildings got built was due to the slave trade.

Modern structures can be "beautiful" too. Look at Santi Calatrava's work...the man is a magician. Some of these ultra modern buildings can be quite confronting its true...and i have to admit, im not Frank Gehry's biggest fan. Some of his work is magnificent..some is just weird. But they are still capable of being art masterpieces

Im in Adelaide....University of Adelaide to be exact. Im enjoying it so far.

I will be looking more at residential than large scale when i finish though.

From the few people ive spoken to about it, they have only had good things to say.
