Now that Hicks is in charge, expect pies the size of Texas at the new stadium at a third of the current price.

To see them as some sort of saviour, that they are spending cash out of the goodness of their hearts is missing the point completely.

That being said, the new stadium looks a massive improvement on the original design. Not only does the stadium itself look better but there is now scope to increase the capacity.

as for transfers their input is hard to judge. Our net spend has been nothing special and we'll never know if targets were lost because of a lack of cash.

i'm not knocking G&H but equally, they are businessmen here to make money. Now in the course of doing that, all things being equal it should help the club as well. But personally, i don't see them as any sort of saviours.
Of course, they are business men, but if there's anything that Americans love it's winning. Only time will tell how this is all going to turn out, but so far they seem very enthusiastic about the game, the club and they're very accessible. The polar opposite of Malcolm Glazer for example, who appears to have zero interest in the game. There's no reason that LFC can't operate as a successful business, but also retain the heart and soul that has made the club so great over the years. There's nothing I'd love to see more than LFC becoming the Apple to United's Microsoft.

No offence but reading your post you would prefer Roman?

Personally I want LFC to achieve world domination within its own means. G & T are not spending large doses of their own cash. I never expected them to do this. All the talk of extra money from Tv will not be realised till this season.

We are progressing as a going concern and it is reasonable to suggest our spending has been affected by the fact the new stadium will obviously cost more than we had previously budgeted for. If our new owners get their wish and can build a 76,000 capacity stadium it will cost more again.

I for one am glad we haven't spent crazy this year because next year we will be able to offer EVERY player in the world the chance to play in the last game at Anfield.

If their good enough they get to play in the 1st game at NEW ANFIELD.

We will be in position to recruit the best in the world. AS WE SHOULD!:bird:

How anyone can critisize these guys and there means is beyond me.They have lived upto everything, and more ,than they said they would.

Would we of had the same kind of players coming in this summer had Moores still been in charge? No

Would we of had the kind of stadium being proposed had Moores,DIC or Shinawatra been in charge?I really can't see how, since Moores Couldn't fund it,DIC weren't interested, and Shinawatra's future is definatley uncertain.

Out of all our options,i believe that these guys were the right way forward in all aspects. They know how to run sports teams, have the financial muscle to back up there ideas and i believe they really have a passion for sport. This i think is vital.

Only time will tell if it brings success, but they can only do so much. The manager is ultimately responsible for success as he is the decision maker with regards to players, formations and tactics which win or lose games.

Rafa,it seems,is respected hugely by the new owners as the man to take us where we should be, and i feel exactly the same.

I'm not one of these people who, being realistic, think that we can close a gap of around 20 points in one season. But i do believe that we will definately be much closer this time around.

If we are in with a shout come the last 5 games of the season, than that is definately an improvement.I think most of us would agree that winning the champions league in 2005 certainly covered up a few cracks.

Our team now is much stronger in every department. With the addition of a wing wizard,we will certainly be stronger than we have been for years, because imo, thats what we really need to break down those stubborn, were playing Liverpool at home, lets see if we can get a point and defend for our lives with 1 man upfront teams.Middlesbrough last year was the worst kind of display i have seen from a home team, ever.Thats cheating your fans imo.

I really like the direction our club is is taking and believe that these guys will take us to no 19 and 20 and 6 and 7 etc.

It's a business and G&H are maximizing its potential. Frankly I'd expect nothing less from them.

Not bad for a few months work.

As they appear to be building for a long term future I am sure we will see more money for transfers when Rafa wants it

Fair enough mate but let's remember there are no guarantees of big profits for them, but if there are then we all benefit.
They've invested their money and put their balls on the line to bring this club forward otherwise where would be, as you've probably argued yourself we have needed this investment.
The stadium was turning into a disaster type situation and we were not competing in the top end of the transfer market. The cash was made available that is obvious, so if we recouped some of it with players leaving normally we would've sold those players first then tried to put deals together with what was left and maybe a small top up from David Moores.
Don't get me wrong David Moores put his hand in his pocket all the time and I have a great respect for him but these lads have defo taken it another step and we should be thankful they didn't have to give us **** all to spend if they were just here for the money.

Wonder where we'd be if Tom and George came along a few yrs ago, say when Rafa was apointed.

We might be looking towards a new season in our new stadium, maybe as PL champs, ah well only a few more years (for the stadium anyway)
