I have to take my hat off to the Yanks

They said they'd tie down Benitez - done.

They said they'd sort out the stadium - being done.

They said they'd provide funds for a player specific budget - done.

They said they'd tie down current stars to long contracts - done.

    And now this:

During the close season Liverpool Football Club has been working closely with our software partners to improve our service to our supporters. This has resulted in the ticket office being closed for short periods in the run up to the new season.
There are several things that we have addressed most notably a new queuing system for the phone lines and improvements to the WebSales.

Firstly we have introduced a new phone service which will reduce costs to our supporters from a national rate call 0870 to a low rate call 0844 number. Call charges are 5p per minute from landline numbers and mobile charges will vary according to the service providers.

All tickets for any fixture in the upcoming 2007-2008 season will now be able to be bought by telephoning one number (UK) 0844 844 0844 (Overseas) 0870 220 2151. This will include 24 hour automated information, general sales, late availability (if available), PTS Ticket Sales and Fancard Wallets. There will be options to press relating to the games on sale (if the wrong option is pressed it will not be possible to transfer your call to the correct line). A message will be heard with details of the game(s) on sale. Please be aware though, due to extremely high demands for Liverpool home games, when telephoning there may be a considerable queue but your call will be answered as quickly as possible. If the queue is full you will be asked to try again later. At times you may hear a network busy message which will vary depending on your service provider.

In the future for Priority tickets and cup games you may be asked to enter your Fan Card number first to determine eligibility.

If you have a query you should call the Customer Services department on (UK) 0844 844 2005 (Overseas) 0870 220 2345. N.B transfer to a selling line is not possible by dialling Customer Services.

The Membership Department can be contacted on (UK) 0844 499 3000 (Overseas) 0870 702 0207.

The internet upgrade will be completed over two stages.

    Stage 1:
This will include greater resilience and improved failovers, although supporters may not notice much change as cosmetically the site will look the same and the number of people who can access it will not change dramatically.

    Stage 2:
Early in the New Year we will be launching a new web sales function that will incorporate all the resilience offered from stage 1 along with new functionality and increased capacity. The site will have totally new look and feel and will hopefully provide both the Club and you, the fans, with a more stable and efficient method of purchasing tickets.

Before undertaking these modifications the Club has taken on board the thoughts of many fans and hope that we will all reap the benefits in the future.
Fair play to the Yanks, they've not been here long but they've already achieved shed loads more than i'd have expected.

    Credit where it's due.

Now if the lads can equal those efforts on the pitch we are in for one hell of a ride...

True, but do you think we'd have paid £20m+ for Torres?

We didn't in the end, but your point still stands.

Can you buy tickets online as soon as the tickets go on general sale? I've only ever got them over the phone.

are you sure thats not just rafa saying, rather than spend 30 million on 6 players, lets spend it on less players?

Just a note on the 0870 number changing to a low-call number. I work as a dialler manager in a call centre and the reason is probably more to do with OFCOM changing the charge system for 0870 numbers - instead of the company recieving 3p per minute, they will actually have to pay the 3p themselves. For us this means an extra expenditure and I expect most companies will move away from 0870. You can imagine this would have probably added up to a small fortune for LFC over the season!

May I remind all that Rick Parry is still the chief executive and these improvements may bear his hallmarks after all ? I'm not sure these are all down to the yanks ... They certainly have raised the bar though.

It could be that he's been given the "green light" to go ahead with ideas.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

I don't think you can say they have provided player specific transfer budgets. they might well have done but equally they might not. We don't know & never will, if we lost players because we didn't have the cash. Did rafa really want Benyoun or was he forced to because we didn't have the cash to buy a Mancini etc.

As for the stadium etc, G&H have done well.
