Although he usually talks utter garbage...Merson did make a good point there.
We need one or two of strikers to play on the shoulder of the last man, as the out and out striker. Kuyt likes to come deep, as does Kuyt, as does the Crow and to a certain extent Crouch so that leaves Torres.
From the amount of times i've seen him play, i always thought/assumed he was an out and out striker btu a few have said he's more of a link up man ala Kuyt etc.

Sometimes twice as deep as he normally does.
