"Kewell axes holidays to fight for place"

...apparently. Big friggin' deal - he's effectively been on holiday for the last 2 years anyway!

doesnt matter what the bloke does.....dipsticks like you will never give the guy any credit.

FWIW he played almost the entire season before the WC. So that throws your "he's been on holiday for 2 years" out the window.

He was still on holiday when he was playing. If he does anything worthy of credit, he will get it.

From what I've seen so far he's not under any pressure for his place on the left.

Harry had time off before the Asian Cup as agreed with Aust FA and Liverpool. He is answering questions and it is taken out of context. The fact is he needs to perform this year AND avoid injury.

What is clear is he knows that better than any of us, and he appears to have done everything he can, along with the club, to make sure he is as fit as possible. He is on a mission to earn a new contract and it will not be easy.

It needs to be said though, if he is closer to 100% fitness and given time to regain match fitness and TOUCH (so important for a player of his ilk) he is more than capable of getting that contract.

An 80% fit Kewell is better than most LW out there IMO.

He did pretty well today. Pompey just resorted to hacking him down.

I thought he was pathetic. He looked slow and is not and never will be the player he was.He never took on the full back, passed back to Riise every chance he could and feigned injury like the pussy he is when he over ran the ball.Got one or two crosses in for Kuyt but they were not dangerous.A waste of space. If Hammell or the other young winger with the chubby cheeks are not better than him now, then they should forget about it.He is a spent force

and his passes are sooo delightful

What do you want me to say?He gets the sympathy vote.He never does it for us.I give credit where it is due.We still dont have top wingers after all.
Babel will take time to settle I think. If we are to rely on Kewell then we are proper f*cked.

you have to admit that Kewell is showing signs of his old self, since he made his comeback towards the end of the season he has proved that..I think now its the time to SUPPORT the lad not slag him off for not showing 100% YET.

Well he is hardly reading thisI dont think he is to be honest.Momo was awesome today as was Alonso.Momo looks like he got bulkier and faster.
His touch is better too.Time will tell with Barry Kewell.I think he will be inconsistent and let us down as usual

I'd agree wholeheartedly. The guy wants to stay & fight for his place. That'll do for me. He's done more than Biscan ever did for us, yet that guy is a legend to some.

I'll remind you about this during the season

i think people pittied Biscan cos Ged played him out of position while Kewells injuries made many people lose faith in him. personally, i think Kewell is showing very good signs that he is slowly getting his sharpness & fitness back.
