I am a supporter and I do have faith. I sat there in Athens on 90 mins still thinking we could equalise. Just thought it was an interesting pattern and one which highlights the lack of the winners mentality over the past few years.

I see a couple of things that are different this year which might work in our favour.

For manure, I think that Hargreaves will become first choice and that will lead to a less creative midfield vs. Scholes and Carrick. I don't think that Nani etc are going to be more productive than what they had on the wings last year and will make the squad deeper but not the 1st 11 better. They are also very dependent on CR, if he doesn't have another flyer, then they'll be in trouble because Rooney hasn't come on as much as he should have.

Chelsea, it'll be interesting to see how they hold up mentally now that they know they are fallible. 50% of winning is in the mind, I reckon their confidence will affect their performances. They'll also be switching back to their formation from the prior year and I'm not sure that the team they have now is as well setup for that. And of course they are going to lose Essein, Drogba and Mikel(?) to the ACN.

Based on that I don't think our chances of winning are as bad as some makeout.

I would have to disagree with us having the strongest squad to be honest

Do I think that we will win the league this season? I must honestly say NO!

Yes, I believe we will improve on last season's performance but I honestly don't feel we'll be able to improve enough to win the league, especially if United continue as they did last season. Chelsea will be closer to them, if not beat them, and we will be closer to them too. But I feel that improving by over 21 points will be too much for us over the one season.

The way I see it is that Man U, no matter who they've signed, can't improve on their points total much as they did so well last year. Chelsea can though and will be very close to them this year, if not on a par. They suffered terribly with injuries last season and they surely can't have the same again, although I hear they have 12 out for this weekend's Comminity Shield.

Us meanwhile, can improve on last season's showing and as long as we can score the goals regularly and improve away from home, then who knows what we can achieve. A good start in the opening months is crucial though, as a few losses or too many dropped points early on will leave us too much to do once again.

However, there is no guarantee that United, or Chelsea for that matter despite me saying that I think they'll improve, will produce the same consistency as last season and an improvement by us might take us close to the leaders. At this stage, who knows what will happen, but I feel we'll need them two teams above us to lack their usual consistency for us to be given a real chance of the title.

            Time will tell though.

I'll be very surprised if we win the title this season. we were miles off the pace last season and although we've improved the squad its asking a hell of alot to make up so many points. Only 1 of our buys has had Premier league experience snd in all probability it'll take torres & co at least a season to bed down. My money would be Chelsea.

I honestly believe Man U last year was an abberation on a downward spiral. On so many levels they outperformed themselves. Who knows whether the new signings will be djembas or cantonas. I am suspecting the former despite a few cartwheels playing some no marks. That said they'll have shedloads of confidence and lesser teams will be cacking them as always and pooing their panties when they get to old toilet. Apart from our sometimes dire away form we more than matched them at home, and have aded some muscle. I am not fearing man u as much as everyone wants us to. F**k them, we are Liverpool FC they are not all that.
Chelsea are going to be far more of a threat. They are a more stable club now that whingeygub and brewster have kissed and made up again. Ballack couldnt possiblyi be aorse, Cech will not be out with a freak head injury and they will be more careful with their surprisingly fragile central defence this year. It seems (and yes of vourse this is imo only!) that they are singing to mourinhos tune again after Abramovich losing the plot and thinking that he could run a football club. He was proven badly wrong. When Maureen calls the shots they win things, when Roman tries to interfere he makes a total **** of it.
                  Arsenal. **** knows..
Spurs. Christ on a bike knows where they keep getting the wedge as they always outspend most teams and never win a ****in thing, but all signs point to them looking good but screwing up majorly at times.
                  Who else?..

I hate the ******s with a passion but you have got to hand it them, they were brilliant from start to finish last season, some great individual performers such as Ronaldo, Vidic and Giggs but as a team they were quite superb from back to front throughout the entire campaign.
They've set the benchmark in the Premiership for the best part of 15 years now and there's no getting away from that fact. It's hard to take but that's the sad reality of it.
LFC should be doing a whole lot better, we've been an absolute disgrace when it's come to challenging for the title ever since the premiership was introduced.
Not good enough and it ought to change and quick.

                      Agreed.
We need to attack more and score more away from home, and we need the attitude that we can batter some teams home and away. We do not need 2 defensive CMs.

If we can overcome this frustrating 'going one nil up against a poor team and then defending the lead until 5 minutes from the end when they get a lucky goal and we cant raise our game to win after that and it ends in a lukewarm 1-1 draw' then yes, we might have a slight chance.

I don't believe we should ever enter any competition without the idea of winning it. We are Liverpool, we exist to win trophies.

We will win the Premiership, plus the European, F.A. and League Cups.

We have a big squad, so let's go and win all 4

i can see where you coming from mate but if you wanna do well you have to rotate. our problem is that we don't (or dare i say didn't?) have enough quality to substitute class with class.
