He tackles like his life depends on it, is a dirty ****er without giving too many fouls away, and is physically well built.Originally posted by Alpha View PostI don't think Paletta deserves to be written off just yet.
All he needs to work on is his positional play, which im sure the coaching staff are doing on a regular basis.
Unfortunately a lot of people are judging him on a couple of games where he was a bag of nerves due to the fact the keeper behind him was letting the ball fly in the net EVERY time someone got past paletta.
Ive said a few times that I reckon this lad is going to have a big future here at Liverpool.
Not every player is a freak like Agger and just slots in seamlessly.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I think you are complete ****e.Originally posted by Hooz View PostI do. He's 21 and if he hasn't managed to pick up even the basics of defending by now, he never will.
He is complete ****e.
Out of interest, is there a single player in the liverpool squad that you HAVE got any time for?
Either you are a bluenose, a manc, or a complete and utter bellend. I suspect options 2 AND 3.

My criticism of players on here is usually a direct response to the absurd optimism/inability to objectively judge our players by some posters.
For the record, I think we have three fine centre backs at the club. I also think that Paletta is a terrible player and will never get close to their level. Anyone disagree?

I have to say it is interesting the strength of reaction is to your criticism is. However I really think that we haven't seen enough of Paulleta to form a judgement. I actually think his positioning isn't as bad as some make out, however he has looked nervous and non-committal in terms of his movements. Partly this is a function of age but I think it has been unfortunate that he has played with the Dudek/Hyypia combination in general. The trouble being that Dudek has poor command of his defence and Hyypia is not that vocal or mobile which puts added pressure on Pauletta.Originally posted by Hooz View PostHaha.

It is clear that at the very least he needs games at a lower level.
I believe though that Coops has seen a bit of him for the reserves and thinks he has shown promise. I'm willing to give both the benefit of the doubt.
I would have liked to have seen Pauletta and Hobbs loaned out, partly selfishly as I want to see them play but mostly as I feel they need to be tested at a competitively level."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

IMO the only way is up for Paletta. He has looked very poor but also recently he has looked decent. I think Rafa is right in giving him more time.

Vickery, the BBC guy who usually makes pretty good calls, said he could go either way. I've got my fingers crossed. He seems more like riise than for example Quaresma, but if he can make the right runs he may be more effective.Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostIs the lad ready for the first team? The Crushing Machine MKII

Paletta would be twice the player he has been if he was alongside Carra. Pretty much all the times he's played it's been w/Sami. Sami is not half the organizer that Carra is.Originally posted by paulcooper4 View PostHe tackles like his life depends on it, is a dirty ****er without giving too many fouls away, and is physically well built.

Even given the crap peformances, I still think Paletta will make it. His performances in the reserves have been unimpeachable. The Crushing Machine MKII
