Cisse and Gonzalez both had pace and could run at defenders. Didn't really help them much.

Take Torres for example, although it took him 4 matches to finally break his duck you could see straight away by the little things he did in games that he has talent and is a quality player.

For me Babel hasn't showed me that he has the quality we need particularly on the wings. To be honest he didn't impress me in the matches I watched him play before he joined us.

In terms of depth you could argue that we have strengthened our wide areas but I still don't think we have the quality on the wings we have been crying out for.

I agree with that.Babel has had a few games now albeit out of position but he really doesn't look any more than average. To my understanding we were getting one of the most talented young players from Holland.Imo,he's not even half as good as Lennon for example.

Maybe were being a little impatient.

To be fair to the lad he hasn't played all that much and when he has played he has had little space to do anything. You can't run at defenders all the time when there are 2-3 men around you all the time like today where there was an overload on the right hand side.

Mate, he has been very poor in every game he's played for us so far. imo he hasn't even showed an inch of quality. I just don't rate him fella and this is not just based on Babel's games for Liverpool.

People read a lot too much into pre-season games IMO. I think it is fair to reserve judgement for a little while. It can take a while for players to settle in and feel comfortable enough to do the things they are capable of. I have no opinion on Babel as I have seen next to sod all of him so I can't really be any more constructive but to slate a player for poor pre-season performances is madness.

I know what you mean. I just hope its him not being sharp and not knowing his teamates.

I hope you play for some kind of semi-pro or pro team.

Mate, you don't need to examine a player for months on end to determine whether he is quality. By watching little things that players do in a game can easily give you an idea whether he has what it takes become a top player. For me in the games that I have watched Babel play for us he has looked prettyaverage. He hasn't showed any quality at all and it doesn't take months to show little signs of quality. Like I said I didn't think much of him before he signed for us.

Insua looks a really good player. Maybe it's the contrast with Riise, but it's so nice to have a left-back who is very comfortable with the ball at his feet. He wasn't tested too much defensively and I'd like to see more of that side of his game before getting carried away, but at this stage he looks nailed-on to make the step up to the first team sooner or later.

I really don't understand why so many people were opposed to us signing him, he was proven quality at a bargain price as you say. Compare him to some of the other Premiership signings at that price or dearer, Richardson, Jagielka, Koumas etc. Even compare him to our very own Babel, loads of people were raving about him, he cost over £10m (more important than talent to some), and as expected he's taking time to settle. With Yossi we've got a very good and versatile player who can have an immediate impact on the first team.

Let's not forget he started last season in the same form, with precise accurate passing until he got injured. If he can remain relatively injury free for us this year, I think he'll be a star.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yossi is a class player the ball he played Torres in for the goal shows that. It was interesting to see him play yesterday as Rafa appeared to have given him a free role.

Yossi will be the key to us unlocking defences with 10 men behind the ball like Everton at home last year. He can produce that pass that no one will see to create a chance. He'll be very important for us.

So your judging him on his limited performances he has had with us.

He certainly impressed me during the recent U21's games, and he has impressed for the Dutch national team aswell.

That was my main concern with Leto on yesterdays performance, great quick feet and technical awareness but really seems to lack the pace needed for an out and out winger, I hope this is something that he works upon.
