Relying on that waster for 5games would mean another slow start for me.Originally posted by Skillz View PostWell i am a strong supporter of his and am biased. I didnt see the game last night but knowing Harry i would not of expected him to go full pelt in a friendly. I will wait for at least 5 serious (PL) games before i decide what to expect from him this year.
If he joined a midtable side now would he do it?DoubtfulOh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Yes Rafa is a genius. His tactics in most games are great but right now we dont have the personel. No defender signed and the attacker I wanted was Alves.Super at set pieces and assists so much.Like I said before, our core is extremely strong but the rest is average.Pennant would be a decent back up RW,but it is more likely he will be number 1.Also I had'nt seen Voronin at this stage and he is another Kuyt for me.Originally posted by zimbo View PostWhat a difference a couple of pre-season friendlies make.
Don't panic, Captain Mainwairing, the season doesn't start for another week.Oh the man is a midfield maestro

Well i form my opinion based on the fact he has had a year out of the game getting over serious injuries (particularly a winger). He has had about 8 games in over a year, almost all as a substitute or being subbed. I suspect he is not ready to go full boar every game yet becauseOriginally posted by PostmanPat View PostRelying on that waster for 5games would mean another slow start for me.

1) match fitness and sharpness
2) he is building confidence back up in his body; and therefore
3) taking time to build up confidence in his ability (particularly to go past defenders)
He will take a bit more time and i know you and some others arent prepared to give him any more but i am pretty sure Rafa is going to because the payoff could be handsome.
I have watched Harry pretty much his whole career and he has not delivered here what we expected to get. He had a good spell in his first 6 months and was consistently effective, without being to his best level in 05/06. In fact there is only one game for us where i felt he played to his level and that was a the end of 05/06, Chelsea FA cup semi where he toyed with all of their defenders. Unfortunately he got carried away and pushed too hard and broke down again.
That is why i feel we need to be just a little more patient. It is still there but until he is confident his body can we expect him to rampant on defences again. I think he is close but he doesnt want to push it too far too early, one step at a time, for want of a better term.
Remember he is playing for a contract and cannot afford to get injured now. He can still be an effective player at 60-70% fitness as we saw in 05/06. I suspect he is between 80-90% now and will (touching wood) soon be 95%. Once there and confident again we have a left winger to rival any in the league.
Rant over, thanks for listening
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Originally posted by Airman View PostI agree he didn't play well yesterday, but, to be fair, the incident you quote where he stopped was more than likely because nobody followed him up the pitch. Simply, he had nobody to pass to. Our 2 'strikers' were way behind him and playing as midfielders as usual.

Fighting for a left-wing berth with Damien Duff - the two who were the object of our desires for so long and who were the subjects of many a debate as to who should've been our new left winger. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I shall update it though.
