From what I’ve seen Harry always performed best when playing just off a striker rather that wide left. Was hoping to see some indication pre-season that Rafa might experiment with a 4-3-3 formation, but never noticed. Think this would suit Harry a lot more as pace wouldn’t be as much of an issue and would imagine Voronin, Babel and Yossi would also thrive in similar positions.
I think its our best formation with the players we have. I would have liked Rafa to try it in pre-season as an indication that we may use it. But these things go on in the training ground so we may yet see the 4-3-3 formation.

Should have 99. The Crow deserves it. I thought Kuyt should have got 7 with Kewell getting 10.

<Rant>

Disappointed really in some of the things that I have read here, Kewell - regardless of anything else - will be pulling on the red shirt next season. If Harry delivers anywhere near his best he will be awesome (Irishman not Aussie BTW). He can, and wil,l destroy defenses. He can deliver the goods when asked. We have been in three major finals in the last three seasons (two euro & FA) and he has been our starting left sided player in them all.

Why?

The talent there is undoubted (by most). The application is sometimes suspect. The desire is undeminished. Kewell, Benitez and Houllier have all spoken about conditions that restrict Harry - mainly his banjacksed Achilles.

Harry is not the first, nor will he be the last, player to anger some of you people, but as long as he is a red I for one will be delighted to see him play.

Rob Jones, Nicky Tanner, Jim Beglin - all players that a lot of us would have enjoyed seeing playing more, all restricted by injurieds - Jones (shin splints), Tanner (broken back! against Coventry), Beglin (broke leg against Everton).

How many more of our players have to show this level of commitment before people will just support the fourteen that play, instead of ripping into a single individual?

By-the-by a good ball only looks like a good ball when someone moves onto it.

Wonderful witty reply on your behalf, yet another example of having the greatest supporters in the world, always supporting all players who are wearing the red shirt, through thick and thin...disgraceful.

Oh oh its the internet RAMBO.

You are entitled to your opinion like anyone but when you make comments like Harry has no, and never had any, talent dont expect anyone to rally round to support you because you are quite clearly an idiot.

Oh and by the way.......**** off yourself:whatever:

I can't believe the way some of you give so much stick to a Liverpool player that has hardly had the best time with injuries.

In his first 6 months at the club he scored something like 9 or 10 league goals alone and remembering the days on Koptalk, I'm sure he was leading player of the season standing there and on the offal.

Then he was hit with that injury and GH brought him back way too early because he was out of options. Kewell came back still injured, to help the team. He hasn't been right ever since.

His 05 - 06 form i thought was quite good, considering he was at 60-70% fitness. He provided great balance on the left hand side, hugging the chalk, being a good enough outlet for Alonso that allowed Gerrard to roam free and not be restricted to the right hand side, coinciding coincidentally with the best scoring year of Stevie's career. Not to mention he demolished Chelsea on his own in that FA Cup Semi final, before getting injured again in the final.

I think the last straw came last season when Rafa must have just rathered go through a whole season with Zenden and Gonzalez on the left and get Harry right to give it one last go at 100% fitness. The year off last season was much needed IMHO.

This pre-season he hasn't looked completely match fit and looks to have lost a yard of pace, however, he didn't seem like that in the Asia Cup. When put through by Cahill, he raced nearly 35 yards before slotting past the keeper and he actually looked quite quick.

I just think that Rafa has told him that he would rather Harry test himself in the premiership proper rather than go 100% in a friendly and snap something before the season starts. Remember that all of our pre-season games have been played in immense heat, the conditions in England will be far more suitable to test a player like Harry returning from injury. Rafa said it himself in one of his interviews after the Feynoord game that "Harry was replaced by Babel for precaution only".

Rafa obviously rates him. For those who say he gives no effort and doesn't deserve to wear the shirt, it's quite obvious that one of the main qualities our manager looks for in a player is HARD WORK and COMMITMENT and if Harry didn't have that, I'm sure he would have been shipped out already. The fact is though that Rafa continues to talk about him "like a new signing".

There is no doubt that this is his make or break season. Personally, I don't know whether he will perform or not, but I will support him until the day he stops wearing the red shirt of Liverpool.

Quite right, especially like the bit in bold, something that some "supporters" seem to miss, or maybe they know better than Rafa, who only sees the players up close every day...

Dame Edna, you really are missing the point here. Harry Kewell is merely an average football player, nothing more ,nothing less. I dont expect the support of others, I dont need it. In any other profession he would have been sacked a long time ago for non performance

At the end of the day Kewell just isnt good enough for Liverpool fc. He has done nothing of note for the club since joining. Kewell ranks alongside GH`s signings like Diao, Diouff etc ......Cue the retaloratory post of "He`s been unfortunate with injuries" reply post

Anyways, you continue comforting yourself by looking at Kewell through your Sparkling Rose Tinted glasses whilst you are pulling yourself off, I am sure you draw great satisfaction from that. :whatever:

Apologies for not being part of the Blind and misguided faith section of supporters :whatever:

We were promised and "Edga of the seat player" and we ended up with something that doesnt remotely resemble that

Up to now I would assume it has been due to lack of funding and the fact Gonzelez didnt adapt to the rigours of the PL football. We have just bought in Babel, Leto to cover that position and in the event we get Heinze or another Left back this will give Rafa to opportunity to use Risse in that position too.

Sometimes its about compromise and living with what you have........

Plus its difficult to get rid of an injury prone player

Now u r just clutching at straws mate. U were promised an edge-of-the-seat player by a manager that also claimed Cheyrou was the next Zidane and Diao was the next Viera. The fact that u continue to spew forth venom towards one of your own players, a player that has played through constant pain for the club, is embarassing to u as a Liverpool Supporter.

Then again, he did nearly desert the club he loves twice in 2 seasons for the sake of trophies, scream "im the f*cking man" and shrug away teammates when scoring goals, and then state in his autobiography that he will show the club love just as long as the club makes it worth his while...oh, no, hang on, that wasnt Harry...Harry knocked back a host of clubs offering more money just for the chance to play for his favourite club, and has been preety much injred since. Wheter u like it or not, Rafa rates him - and it wouldnt be difficult at all to offload him, injuries or not, there are a host of clubs that would take him if we wanted rid.
