Following on from the Fans view thread I was thinking about my own predictions for the coming season, and especially, where LFC will finish and what hopes we have for the new season.
So, what does everyone else think? Will we win the league, realistically speaking, and will we win trophies this year - maybe another CL final?
Here are my thoughts (it could be long):
LFC seem to have bought some great additions to our squad, and particularly our attacking positions, and I fully expect us to be more of a threat in front of goal this time around. If we can keep our defence tight then I see big things for us this coming campaign, as long as our new players click pretty quickly.
Torres will be a key man for us, and if he can settle quickly then I predict a close finish in the league this year.
Here's what I think:
League: LFC to finish in the top three and push the usual top two all the way this time, but just missing out on the major prize - next year will be different though with number 19 coming 'home'!
Cups: The CL will be good again with us going on a long run in the competition, maybe reaching the final again. With a bit of luck in the draw I feel we could do it again, why not! Number 6, maybe! The FA Cup would also be nice, but I feel that we'll fall at the latter stages due to strong involvement in the CL and league run-in. Carling Cup, or whatever it's called these days, we'll play the squad players and youngsters and go far this time, maybe all the way, but it'd be no disaster if we failed. Experience for the youngsters could be key in this one this year.
Main player: Gerrard again, with Carra and hopefully Torres and Babel pushing him close.
Final league standings:
1 Chelsea
2 Man U
3 Liverpool
4 Arsenal
5 Spurs
6 Blackburn
7 Portsmouth
8 West Ham
9 Newcastle
10 Villa
11 Everton
12 Man City
13 Boro
14 Reading
15 Sunderland
16 Bolton
17 Fulham
18 Birmingham
19 Wigan
20 Derby
I see the top three being pretty close at the latter stages, with Arsenal pipping Spurs for the other CL spot. The UEFA Cup places will also be a battle with teams like Blackburn, Portsmouth, West Ham and Newcastle all involved and others like Man City and Villa just missing out.
At the bottom I can't see it other than being a battle between Derby, Wigan, Birmingham, Fulham and Bolton. Sunderland and Reading might get dragged in but the bottom three or four will be far too inferior of them.
Who cares about the rest.
