The truth about our strength in depth

    --------------Pepe

    Finnan---Carra----Agger---JAR

    Benayoun----Alonso------Kewell

    -------------Gerrarrd

    ---Crouch-------------Torres

    -------Crow---------Kuyt

    Babel-------------------Pennant

    ----Mascherano--Momo

    Aurelio------------------Arbeola

    ---------Paletta-Sammy

    -----------Carson

Subs: Leiva, Hobbs, Martin,Leto and Insua.

Not a bad squad Rafa old chap. Best we have had for some time. Both of these teams could do well in the EPL. The only weak point is Paletta.

Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

If we were to lose Carra or Agger long term then i'd be more than a little concerned.

Sammy still has a season left in him if we left him out of the cups. If we lost both, thats a different story

I think Sami's lack of pace will finally catch up with him. This season, i fear, is a bridge to far for him. He'll make an excellent deputy in the occasional game but i don;t think he could sustain a full season.

I believe Arbeola has played centrback and Heinze is also an emergency centrback if we ever get him.

The thing is Sami never had pace. What made him as a player was his exceptional positioning and reading of the game, so even though he never had pace, he was always one step ahead of ther game.
If we do lose Agger and Carra we'd be left with Sami and one of Paletta and Arbeloa. Hence one of the reasons for trying to buy Heinze, although he's not the quickest either.

I thought Heinze couldn't play centre back?

                  No he didn't.

                  Ayala and Milito did.

He can play there but not very well. He's average there which is due to his lack of pace especially after his injury.

but if we had to rely on Palletta as well....

If we signed a LB who could also play CB we'd have genuine strength in depth, no exception. Paletta isn't up to it and Aurelio is injury prone - then again so is Heinze. Chiellini on the other hand...

Replace paletta with Heinize and we truly have two class players for each position!
