He can play there but he's never played there for us. Not sure whether he's physically strong enough for a centre half tbh.

He doesnt look like a center half to me either, bit small and waek and has never looked very imposing in the air either. I think he would be very much an emergency choice at CB for us. I like him though and he has proved another shrewd buy from Rafa, looks like a classy player, very good on the ball, and took that goal he scored at the end of last season very cooly. If only some of our forwards could finish like that!

The squad is a good one, but as has been mentioned my only real concerns are at CB, I would like another out and out Cb and to send Paletta out on loan for some experience. Aside from that the only other small worry I have is with our wing play, would have liked us to get another top quality signing in there but hopefully what we've got is good enough

Not a bad squad Rafa old chap. Best we have had for some time. Both of these teams could do well in the EPL. The only weak point is Paletta.

Arbeloa's ace in the air; it's definitely the one thing he has over Finnan imo

The fact that todays sixteen didnt even include Crouch, Benayoun, Aurelio, Mascherano, Leto, Leiva, Insua, El Zhar and Kewell really bodes well.

We put out a strong first XI today and that still left us with the likes of Hyypia, Babel, Voronin and Momo to call upon, as well as the 9 players mentioned above. If we got Heinze as well, that'd complete a very impressively strong squad.
