I dont understand why we'd bring in a new GK and let Carson go out on loan again. If Rafa likes Carson as much as he says he does why not keep him at the club and play him? Instead we go out and get a keeper we don't know much about. If Pepe gets injured do we really want an unkown quantity at GK?

He might be a decent keeper, thus allowing Carson to get his wish of regular Premiership football at Villa, thus giving as a loan fee, and (hopefully) putting a clause into the loan contract so that we can recall Carson, should Reina sustain a bad injury!

He could turn out to be a very good back up keeper. for a back up keeper all you want is someone steady and someone who doesn't complain about being on the bench, like Harper at Newcastle

He's hardly an unknown quantity to our manager or scouts so im not really sure that has any relevance.

If he's just lost his place that would indicate that he was first choice and another keeper has just been brought in as opposed to him being a permanent benchwarmer
